For anyone with a KINDLE who is interested.

The Hunger Games trilogy (all 3 books) is only $5.
This is a great series.

Might be for today only:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XJRQUQ/?tag=afbmc-20

Thanks for the post!  I just bought it. :D

NICE  Too bad the Nook isn't doing the same - we Nook owners would have to pay $$29.00

Today we are going to the Post Office so that Joe can see how New Yorkers live. After that we will head to Grand Central to see the 100th Anniversary exhibit. After that Joe will meet his NYU friend for late lunch/early dinner and then we go to see Annie. It's a full day.

We are skipping the lunch w/Joe's friend.

How was PHANTOM?  Did Joe enjoy it?

Just got word that my ex-wife's mom died - in her mid-90s so a nice long life.  She was a very nice woman.  Even though the ex and I never talk, the mom would always ask the Darling Daughter about me, and the Darling Daughter gave her the Kritzer books to read as well as the first three Hofstetter books - she was a mystery fan and especially liked the latter.

My sympathies to you, Bruce; and for your daughter and your ex.

Annie was OK. I've seen better. Unfortunately, I didn't much care for Miss Katie Fineran. I have seen her many times in other things and she's wonderful but she doesn't work in Annie. Anthony Warlow, on the other hand, is wonderful.

Joe LOVED Annie.

The 100 Year Exhibit related to Grand Central Terminal is very good and they have a guided tour (20 minutes) as well, which was excellent.

The exhibit only goes through next Friday, March 15, 2013. It's in Vanderbilt Hall, which is what used to be the main waiting room of Grand Central and the tours begin at 11:30am and go every 20 minutes after that.

Dropped the ex-wife an e-mail - she responded and said that her mom was my biggest fan to the very end - very sweet.  If the timing is right and it's not a horrid drive, I'll probably go to the funeral.  I went to her dad's funeral when he passed away.

That is a very nice gesture.

I will take photos of the new washing and drying equipment tomorrow.  They were still doing the installation as I was leaving....but they look nice.....just standing there....

The Delta Upsilon brothers and their guests were most excellent students and many were eager to learn.  There were indeed about one hundred people there.....  MOST of the boys had partners, some did not.

I probably heard at least two dozen times:  "I've never done anything like this before....I don't know anything about dancing...."

How do you get to be a freshman or sophomore in college and NOT KNOW HOW TO DANCE?  Some of the young ladies were in the same boat.....

But within the hour we had at least nine couples who had become quite proficient, and another 15 couples or so who were getting there.....  Everyone was trying.....so I count the evening as a success.

And they were all very well dressed....some of the boys had on jackets and ties, the girls were almost all wearing dresses....and many of them had on heels....  So it was nice to have my faith restored in youth.......much as it was when working with the kids in THE CRUCIBLE....a couple of whom were around tonight.

So....it was a blast....and my sister had a good time, too!!

I hope they ask us back.....  There were lots of photos taken....so we may end up in the DePauw....we shall see.

This is Jackie Joseph's column in The Tolucan Times....and although the event she writes about took place before the Kritzerland show last weekend....there is a tie-in......

Sounds nice!  When I was a youngster we used to be taught social dancing and square dancing in gym class, they no longer do this.  and since the dancing that is done at clubs and parties tends to be  "freestyle".....where would today's kids learn to dance?

PBS is showing this special on Judy Collins performing at the Metroplitan Museum. I love JudyCollins, but she's looking more and more like Miss Havisham every day!

A message for the Big Speakers:

I forgot to mention that yesterday, March 6, was the birthday of Miss Allison Hayes.

I am sure that many of our female DR's dress like this to post here on HHW.....and maybe even some of the gentlemen.  ;D

UNCANNY!!

That is EXACTLY what I am wearing at the moment!

My condolences to your Darling Daughter on the loss of her grandmother.  It is nice you were able to still be friendly even if from afar.  Will you go to her funeral?  My sibling's ex's were at my father's funeral.  I'm not sure my sister was happy about it and would probably wouldn't have appreciated her ex being at her funeral-lol

I would certainly go to my ex-wife's funeral.  Just to make sure that the wooden stake is actually thru her heart.

The new biography of Jane Austen by Paula Byrne arrived today. The first chapter hooked me. It will be a fun read, I think.

The Great Train Robbery
Westworld
The Carey Treatment based on his novel which he wrote under the name Jeffrey Hudson

The Great Train Robbery happened very close to us.  I can take the road off of our street very close to the spot.

That could be why the train doesn't go there.

TOD:

Looking at Crichton's credits I do not see any films that I could say are my favorites. In fact I have only seen two of his films, THE ANDROMODA STRAIN which I saw as a kid and did not like, and WESTWORLD which I also saw as a kid...I didn't dislike it, but it isn't anything I have longed to see again after all these years.

Well, one day out of 365.  Not bad.

Long, long day.  Had a swell lunch, then the helper came and we did a Costco run, then picked up no packages and came home.  I don't really know where the time went - I didn't even watch more than ten minutes of a motion picture.  There were a lot of long telephonic calls.  Then transfer guy came and brought me several things, one of which, the most important, I'm listening to now.  Sometimes persistence pays off and I'll be talking about that in the notes.  I can only say stunning music in stunning stereo and I am a very happy camper and this will instantly enter my pantheon of favorite Kritzerland releases ever.

My sister was in Vermont and ate lunch at Costco. She said they served different things. But she was most surprised that they did not serve fries. Here the $1.50 hot dog and drink combo is the big seller. I cannot imagine them not selling fries to go with it.

None of the Costcos I have visited has ever served fries.  Of course, we aren't French.
