PERSEVERANCE AND HARDHEADEDNESS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes persevered and were hardheaded, and not it is time for you to post until the hard-headed cows come home.

In my multi-region Blu-ray player (since my region code-free DVD player went the way of the dodo), the complete "Remember WENN" from China (not an official release).  It just arrived yesterday!  What's interesting is that the menus have the exact same background as my Panasonic DVD burner...I wonder if they used the same thing or if just other Panasonic DVD burners all have the same backgrounds.  Anyway, I'm going to be watching these over the next few weeks. :D

If these ever are "officially" released, I would certainly double-dip!  I loved this show!

Also in my Blu-ray player:  Argo.  This also just arrived yesterday.  I saw it in the theater last week and think that my dad will love it.  I'm going to give him the DVD out of the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

And finally, in my CD player:  the original Broadway cast recording to Nice Work If You Can Get It.  It was in the same shipment with Argo.  I'll listen to this at work today.

We will be leaving in a while to take Joe back to JFK for his flight home.

He had a good time and we enjoyed having him!

BK

I'm going to ask this now because I won't remember it by next Wednesday.

The baking process. Is it put into an oven type that is found in a person's home?

And what exactly does baking the tapes do to them so they can be played again?

Good morning, all!

I had some real doozies of dreams last night, but I only remember something about being trapped on a small platform too many feet above the earth. I donot like these kind ofdreams, but I suspect my current round of emails with the record producer is the source of many of them.

BK, I think the Rescue of the Tapes isanice deed you did for the composer. I'm sure he's delighted to learn that they weren't useless and that all's well that ends well.

I am off to the post office and then then to Toyland,

Yes DR ELMORE you are correct......being put in a precarious position by others so that a step you take on your own in any direction results in a fall - is a very common and annoying dream about business/professional circumstances.

Very interesting notes today.  I am looking forward to hearing the referenced soundtrack recording.  I can't identify it - but at least we know the composer is alive and worked with the same director at least twice.....

TOD:

DVD:

WEST POINT - the ZIV television series from 1956-58.  The very first episode featured Martin Milner AND Richard Tyler (from THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE and Annette's boyfriend when she guest starred on The Danny Thomas Show).  The second episode featured Chuck Conners and Robert Vaughn.....Robert barely came up to Chuck's shoulders in height.

CD - swing dancing music....of all kinds and eras

I have ARGO and THE AVENGERS on Blu Ray to watch, but I think I shall give a few more episodes of WEST POINT a look.  It's really well done and looks pretty good for its age.  They did a LOT of location filming with the specific actors of each episode, and as far as I can tell, the uniforms and actions are very authentic.

Good morning, all.

OMG, what a mess.  Apparently the temperature fell lower than expected and the snow just kept falling.  Looking at the radar, I swear the storm covering upstate NY and New England hasn't moved an inch since around midnight.

Re the notes:  Yeah, can't wait to hear what film is!

I thought the baking of tapes was more for, say, "Golden Age" 50s and 60s stuff.  Good lord, that is major -- and critical -- restoration work you guys just did.

I first read about the process some 20 years ago, maybe even farther back, and I wonder if "tape ovens" have become a fixture in studios.  For those who don't know, there's also a way to un-warp vinyl records in ovens.  What won't they think of next!

TOD:

Alas, once again, not much these past few days.  Watched CHAPLIN (the Robert Downey Jr. movie) for my first time last night, on Blu-ray.  Also have the latest Twilight Time releases (THE FURY and CHRISTINE -- a collector's item!!!  :) ) to watch.  And I did watch bits of PINA (in 3D), but will have to return to it when I can more or less immerse myself in it, for best appreciation.

Loved the Bogdanovich story in the notes today, too.

As someone who is counting down the days until I can buy "At Long Last Love," I find the fairly downward trajectory of his directing career fascinating.
