One thing I find extremely odd about Costco is they do not have anything vegetarian on the menu. I don't believe they even have cheese pizza (i think pepperoni or all dressed are the only choices). I find this terrible (the no vegetarian options). Really not fair.

I have notice the pizza doesn't have veggies on it.  I'm not sure if it can be had without meat.

For some reason so far this year I am much more disiplined re: starting a new book as soon as I finish my last read. In the past I have struggled with this often having a hard time starting a new book. I am not sure if it is because this year I have read a lot of books that are in the middle of series I love. Also I have read two trilogies from start to finish (normally I would have read each book as it came out).

Sometimes I wish I could take a break in-between books.  Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get into the rhythm of the new book, especially when I prefer the previous book.

I used to have a big problem starting new books. It could take me a week in between books.  Then it used to be a few days. Now I can mostly start the next book right away. But that has only been since January.

This is why you are reading as many books as I am this year.  My next book is 900 pages and if I like & finish it I will likely fall behind my Goodreads challenge

How many books are you up to? I think I am on 29 or something like that.

I got the dearest message today from my Canadian friend Eric:  I spent a really great afternoon visiting my grandma today.  She used to always talk about being in a production of Babes in Toyland as a kid back in the 20s, so I made her a copy of the CD you helped with and sent me and we listened to it all today--I think it meant a lot to her, and she remembered bits of lyrics, which was pretty cool to see.

He says that her memory's going and the best way for him to relate to her is throgh old shows she saw or music she was fond of.

In the Time to Count My Blessings One More Time Department:

A friend at work who was a contractor when I was finally got hired. She had started a year before me. She apparently got in as the door closed. She told me tonight that there will be no more hires in our departments of contractors. They are being told on their interviews that they have no chance of getting hired, but that they can have a year and get references if their work is good.

So, I feel extra blessed to have gotten hired. And I feel really bad for the one or two who are still contractors and will likely have to leave by the end of the year, if not sooner.

Richard and I have several errands to do in the southern Dayton 'burbs, the last of which will be eating dinner at Red Lobster.  We've been sucked in by the Lobster Fest commercials...

Let me know how it is?  I, too, have been tempted by the commercials.

Why would you need anything with your hot dogs?  Two hot dogs, with no soda, suits me just fine.

Today was a beautiful day here in Western Washington.  Bright blue skies and temperatures in the 50's.  And I had a nice leisurely lunch with two old friends.  One was the first girl I ever went on a date with, and one was the girl I was engaged to while in college.

I'm actually a fan of Red Lobster these days.  I think it's the one chain of that type that's actually pretty good.  But I generally only get to one once a year or so.  One friend here loves to carry on a tradition of going there for her birthday dinner, and there's a great novella called "Last Night at the Lobster", a quick and easy read that I'd recommend.

Yah if you were going to a fair or something I would think hot dogs and potato chips. But they don't serve potato chips at our Costco. And for some reason hot dogs and fries go amazingly well together.

Do the other Costcos serve hamburgers? Pizza? Wouldn't people ever want fries with those?

They sell hot dogs, pizza, some nasty chicken in breading thing, and I think they sell a salad.

Oddly enough, for a very short time a few years back, they also sold a Carnegie Deli hot pastrami sandwich -- all packaged up and ready to zap in the microwave or whatever kind of small fast oven they were using.  That selection didn't last long, but I had one and it wasn't half bad.  It was definitely Carnegie pastrami, no question about that.  I wonder if anyone sells those now, or if it was a short-lived experiment.

Maybe about as short-lived as the Carnegie's presence at Beverly Dr. and Dayton (NE corner) in the late 70s......?

Now, I could see fries on pizza with a chili gravy, cheese and some ranch dressing drizzled on top, then sprinkle bacon over the whole thing and maybe a over-easy egg in the center.

What? They sell something like that at Outback and a few other chain restaurants now, only without the pizza crust.

Speaking of pool water.  DR Jennifer does your pool use chlorine?  Ours is supposed to be only saline but I know they add something that smells like chlorine.  A friend with a daughter in Sweden said chlorine is illegal there.

That is kind of weird.  Chlorine is illegal, but free love is accepted.
