Joe is home, safely, in Minnesota. We were lucky that the morning snow didn't affect his flight at all. We took the E subway to the Air Train and dropped him off at Departures which is as far as we could go.

We then took the Air Train back to the E and at Forest Hills we changed to the F which is 2 blocks closer to the apartment but the F was crowded with morning commuters (it was 9:30am) so we stood most of the way. If we had stayed on the E we would have been able to sit for the 50 minute ride.

Joe (and we) had a wonderful time but we were exhausted! We got home, nibbled a little and then both of us went back to bed. We just lazed around for the rest of the day after we woke up and we went to bed early. I think I'm back on my usual schedule now, I got up around 6.

All in all, it was a wonderful four days with my nephew.

I'm sure Joe appreciated all the attention you gave to making his trip wonderful, including escorting him the the air train.

We watched a film called THIN ICE last night that we'd recorded.

About 20-30 minutes into the recording, apparently something had gone wrong with the broadcast and about five minutes were missing.  And, something VERY important to the plot had taken place during those missing minutes (i.e. somebody had been killed, but I had no idea "who").

I have no doubt how frustrating this was, however, reading about it made me laugh.  Of all the things to miss in 5 minutes out of an entire movie.....

Hi all,

I went to bed early and slept late.

I have a warning for all of you--that Dr. Oz Raspberry Ketone diet pill.  I thought I'd take it because it was cheap and I heard it worked.   I started on Monday.

Yesterday, I was feeling funny and checked my blood sugar.  Not only was it sky high--over 300--it was flashing "Ketones?".   I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up.

Here is what I found:

http://www.diabetes.org/living-with-diabetes/complications/ketoacidosis-dka.html

It is VERY dangerous and it said to go to the hospital.  Now I didn't go because I knew I took that pill and that it would go out of my system.  I checked my blood sugar this morning and I'm fine but i will NOT take that pill again.

I guess the only real way to lose the weight is the hard but safe way.

Oh Danise, NEVER take diet pills!  In fact do research before taking any "health" or "diet" aids.  I'm glad a trip to the hospital wasn't needed.

Contrary to my dream of the other night, I went to Office Depot and found 2 possible chairs.  Both expensive but they had the "heavy use" rating for folks who sit in their chairs for up to eight hours.

Chair #1 -- the one I'm hoping to get---

Chair #2  It says it's only available online but I sat in one today at the store.  Very comfortable.

After a slightly depressing visit with my Mom, I came home to find online evidence that a group of women who I thought were friends had a farewell gathering today for one of them who's relocating to the northern part of the state.  I was not invited.  Pizza, wine, and chocolate frozen yogurt for dinner were called for.

I took a diet pill in 1985. Never again. Of course, if I was as thin now as I was in 1985, I wouldn't need a diet pill. What was I thinking?

Gyu kaku.  I am always glad to lead the way: I began this new "thing" using kids in cabaret by doing an act for the youngest person to ever do a solo act.  There is a gentleman in NY who loves to "borrow" everything I do, and now it's doing a cabaret with kids, much like when I use them in the Kritzerland shows.  And people think, "Ooh, what an original idea."  To which I say, thank you, you're right, it was when I thought of it.

I'm sorry about the books, BK.

I would have preferred they throw them in the trash or send them back or something.  To sell them to a used bookstore, one within close proximity to my residence, and knowing I'm a book collector who frequents these jernts is, well, something - not sure what.  Karma, that's the word that keeps popping up.  My instinct was to write an immediate e-mail, or take a photo of the books and post on Facebook with a pithy comment, where they'd be sure to see it.  But after talking to friends, karma will take care of all of this.

When I browse used books stores I am surprised how often people sell autographed books.  I even purchased on locally that has been autographed for someone I knew, by a local author.

Bruce at first I figured your story going to be like the book I purchased.  I'm very sorry it is far more than that.  I'm glad you didn't send the email, really no point in it.  Making sure your rights are protected is, of course, different.

I'm glad the one member, who is obviously caught in something painful to her as well, didn't sell your books.

That's what I was thinking. The Adriana books probably mean a lot to her.

Since the first one looks more like a typical work, vs home, office chair I expect you will get it.

Sorry, BK, about your revolting discovery today.  I recommend you stop looking at/for those books while I stop looking at certain ladies' Facebook pages.

I also have a few author friends who have told me that it is hard to come across their work at a used book store--especially a signed copy.  I always cherish that something that someone took the time to make personal for me.

No more diet pills for me.  I just kept ready how "safe" these were because they belonged to raspberries.  I love them and eat them all the time so I thought they would be safe.  I should  have looked up "keystones".  I didn't know what that was until my meter started flashing "keystones?".
