Page five?  Five pages?  And what's with the disappearing GUESTS.  We haven't had this low a GUEST count in a 'coon's age.  I feel that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet.

Did i mention our lovely dinner at Virgil's with friends from Arizona?  (They had seen among them two different plays, The Lion king and Edie Falco in The Madrid, two very different events.)  Skip had appetizers with us and then he had to go to a perfromance on the Upper West Side, but I was glad he was able to join us for a while as three of the people from Scottsdale at the table had never met him before.  Some of them were still on Arizona time physically (much earlier) so while I was tired, they were anxious toe xplore New York since they are only here a few days.

We found out at their hotel that their hoped-for plans for tomorrow,  Statue of liberty and Elli Island, are still being repaired after Hurricane Sandy.

It Snowed!!! YEAH!    I won't be going to flute choir as it's 30 miles from here and the road is 100% snow and ice covered.  This is actually a blessing in disguise.  I love flute choir, but I have to write a brief I didn't get done yesterday when I wasn't feeling well.  Today I'm feeling better and will be able to focus and write without having to leave and lose the whole afternoon.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better so quickly.

I needed sleep.  Today it started catching up with me a little.  I took an Advil Cold and Sinus and that helped.

I always wondered how author's feel seeing their books in second hand shops or remainder bins....  I feel bad when I go to the Dollar Tree and see all of those WONDERFUL books that don't have homes......so I usually buy one or two.

Of course the circumstances mentioned by MR BK are completely different than what I have described.  :o

There are autographed books at the Dollar Tree?

It was in the remaindered bins of Murphy's Five & Dime in Middletown, Ohio, around 1963 that I found my hardbound copies of SAY, DARLING and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?

That's tremendous!

Did DR TCB say last night that he owed $5000 in taxes?

We had a blizzard today.  That made me happy.  I spent hours and hours working on stuff for the office and will have to finish up tomorrow.  All the schools are 2 hours late and some roads are closed etc.  I'll have to dig out again, but should be able to get to the office and finish up the project I worked on all day in time to express mail it to the court.

bk, sorry to hear about the book situation. I know that must have hurt, and hope you can let it go because you don't gain anything by holding on to bad feelings.

It's not quite as personal, but I can sort of relate: people have sold copies of DVDs of my films that I've given to them. It would be one thing if I had chosen on my own to give them copies, but these are people who say they want to see one or more of the films and ask me to send them copies, because they don't have Netflix, etc. (All our films are on there.)

I have to pay for these copies myself (at least 5 bucks, then packaging and mailing), but people always seems to think that since they know me, of course I would have plenty to give just away. Recently, an executive at a network here in town asked for copies of two films. Hoping to pick up some work from it, I sent them to this person; they never responded. I followed up a month later to make sure they had arrived. No response. This year I ran into them at a screening and said, "oh, by the way, did you ever get..."

"Oh yes! It was very good; I sent it on to my (insert relative here)". No "thanks for sending", etc.

Then you see used copies of films in town here and have to wonder if they just use them to trade in for other stuff.

The first time I came to NY to meet the "director" of the Mercer doc (after brunching with some of the HHWers) he asked for 3 or 4 copies of our films to give to Mr. Eastwood and co. as samples of my work. It didn't take 5 minutes before, after I helped him down to the street, he used one to tip the guy who had carried up his groceries the day before. Right in front of me!

So, bk, I feel your pain...

People's behavior amazes me!

Actually, Fred, I very foolishly believed my brother in law when he told me that the figure I was receiving as Social Security Disability was After taxes.  He had been on Disability for several years, so I assumed he knew what he was saying.

I just put this comment up in the times comments, but it is intersting what a big deal james franco being bad at the oscars once was, and now that Seth MacFarlane was so controversial, it clears the way for James Franco to be a box office golden boy again.  Was Seth MacFarlane getting bad reaction a plot by the studio?

James Franco’s Oscars hosting mishap is completely forgiven. (Seth MacFarlane can also hope for a full recovery!)

Tune of Off To See The Wizard

We’re off to see James Franco
He’s playing the wizard of Oz
His stock’s gone up ‘cause we forgot
What an odd Oscar host he was

Despite what an odd Oscar host he was
James Franco is off the hook because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because this year’s host got more wicked buzz

We’re off to see James Franco
He’s playing the wizard of Oz

We received an unintentionally funny email from Keith's cousin.  She went for a walk in Venice with her parent's and sent a photo of a synagogue they passed that his aunt said Keith had his Bar Mitzvoh.

We were surprised to learn this since his Bar Mitzvah was at a little Orthodox synagogue on Robertson's near their house.  Keith did attend one in Venice before they moved but this wasn't the one ;D

Keith is from Italy?

Speaking of that, I listened to several old songs today on YouTube.  In addition to Gilbert O'Sullivan, I watched and listened to several Janis Ian songs, some Reba and Brent in ANNiE GET YOUR GUN.  I watched a few more things and then ended up watching Brent sing "Beautiful Boys."
