I always liked the theme song from "For Pete's sake" - i never understood why it didn;t catch on.

I like it too, but the reason why it never caught on is that there was never a commercial recording released. No soundtrack album, no single by Babs

I use mountain lion and have no problems with it. It may be that I have the latest powerbook version to contend with.

Thank you all for reminding me about FOR PETE'S SAKE.  I've meant to get that one on DVD for years, and just now did.  There aren't too many available on Amazon Marketplace right now, either.

I love that film, and I treasure my memories of the night I saw it from the balcony with friends in its opening week at the "Hollywood Pacific" (current name at the time, I believe).  Magnificent theater -- still single screen, of course -- and a magnificent full house eating up every comic moment.  Remember full houses like that?

Dr. Sanjay Gupta said on CNN only have one drink a day.  So i guess the solution for some people would be to just pour one of those Vegas-size drinks and sip it all day from noon until bedtime.  :)

Full houses are still alive and well in New york in the evenings.  In the daytime you can go bowling in the theater for the very same films, so i;m told.

When I change that quote under my posts and someone goes back later to read it, they are going to think I have a drinking problem. Well, I do. I spill stuff on myself all the time.

DR BEN - Doris and Gene in LULLABY OF BROADWAY is one of my favorites!!!  I love the number you mentioned.  My favorite is the title number -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxWRlr431Rw

Doris wrote in her autobiography that she walked into the rehearsal hall and saw the stairs and tried to call a halt to the whole thing.  Miriam Nelson (Gene's wife until he ran off for a fling with Jane Powell) told Doris that she would work with her personally to get her comfortable with the stair turns....  After it was finally filmed Miriam told her that she had only marked the turns when she worked with Doris because she herself couldn't do stair turns - and in fact was scared to try them....

Of course it isn't a patch on the original which is probably in my top five of Dance Numbers in Films.....

From Gold Diggers of 1935 - here is Part Two of that routine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gGVryQDvv4

I love the costumes and the way the man LIFTS his partner way over his head and then WALKS DOWN THE STAIRS with her.  And after all these years, I still can't quite figure out the step the male tap trio is doing....even with the under the glass shot (with no tap shoes).....

I remember the time he sang "Besame Mucho" on American Idol. He was pretty good.

BK, I remember watching a Nicholas Brothers dance and it was incredible.  I remember that I specifically counted the number of shots in the dance:  three...only three times did the camera angle change.  Could anyone nowadays do a dance like that in only three takes?  Or would someone even attempt to shoot that kind of a dance in only three takes??  I don't think so.

I got to know Fayard when I lived in Calabasas.  He was at the Motion Picture Home, and I would occasionally drive him places.

Good morning, all.

Back from Austin in overdrive. Really as a fun couple of days up there. Rachael Ray still knows how to throw a couple of great parties. Favorite musical moment was one for the old folks: Eric Burdon came out with Rachael's husband's band, the Cringe, and sang "We Gotta Get Out of This Place."

I see I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

I love this number, even with the Nazi salutes. Makes me want to curl up all day and have a Busby Berkeley marathon.
