My first trip to New York in 1969, my friend and I got tickets to see Pearl Bailey
and the all-black cast of HELLO, DOLLY! Once you have seen Gower Champion's choreography, nothing else ever compares. Still, in 1983 I saw a great production in the West End of London that starred Danny La Rue, the female impersonator. The production was wonderful, as was Mr. La Rue.

I think the only two community theater productions of HELLO, DOLLY! I have ever seen were the two that I was in. The first time I was Cornelius and the second time Horace.

Barbra Streisand was the only good thing in the film version. The four secondary leads were horrible, although, at least, Danny Lockin and EJ Peaker were cute in their roles.

then back to church - with Dad - and set up everything to make the bags we will be handing out at soup kitchens tomorrow - everyone has been so supportive of this project I have been overwhelmed - one girl scout troop made 419 sandwiches! We had over 500 hard boiled colored eggs plus wash kits, toothbrushes and case, toothpaste....

a group showed up today and we spend three hours putting over 300 bags together, boxing them up and stocking the church van

then the Vixter and I went to Applebees for their 2 for $20 dinner deal ( steak and baked potato for me - riblets for the Vixter)

tomorrow id Palm Sunday and all we assisting ministers must garb and process and I am scheduled lay reader so its another early start and then after the first service ends 6 of us will head into NYC with our van of goodies --

Started watching "To Rome, With Love." It's sweet in spots, but there's no dramatic tension. Will likely finish it tomorrow.

Thanks Vixmom. I've actually started telling people and rather than fear, I feel relief and a lot of the excitement I felt back when I applied to be a judge. I cancelled my state contract for criminal defense about a month ago. I've been saying no to new federal appointments but haven't officially gotten off the list. I'm ready to do that now. I'll probably write the email tomorrow. I'll still be working hard,, but there will be fewer nights and weekends and I will have more of an office practice. It will mean the end of jury trials, but I'll still have hearings before the immigation judges. This is a change I look forward to. Thanks for all the good wishes.

I agree, Cilla. I can't think of anyone that I know who seems to give so much to so many. Vixmom makes me feel guilty of how little I do.

I am home. The good news is I'm posting this from the big boy computer. It was JUST finishing as I walked in the door. Despite being told that everything would be exactly as it was, it wasn't. Not terrible, no disasters exactly, but very frustrating. Word would not launch without a product key - that took me a half hour to find, but finally that was working. iTunes had to download the latest version even though it should have been in the Time Machine saved, same with the printer - it had to download some components. I have no idea how many of my preferences have changed - certainly Word did not launch documents at the computer starting up, which was a preference. I remembered how to do that, so that's now working properly. Also, about six updates that I'd already done had to be done again. Time Machine is not working at all - it says not configured, but that's not something I'm doing without speaking to someone. Thankfully, all my saved usernames and passwords seem to have come over so that's good.

Okay, got Time Machine configured so that should do its first lengthy back-up in about thirty seconds. I think the stuff that didn't come over are things where I didn't have the lock clicked.
