Not a big fan of William Holden. In his younger days he seemed to be a personality than an actor. His performances seem to be all the same no difference from film. It wasn't until his later years that I think he became a better actor, but still I really don't have a favorite film of his to choose.

There is one film I would like to see but not because it is William Holden film. It is assumed that was written and directed by Blake Edwards. I would like to see the directors cut of the wild Rovers which also starred Ryan O'neal.

I've been watching a high definition TV broadcast of Disney's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA. Picture quality was superb. I saw the film as a child in 1954 and it seemed absolutely amazing. It still holds up well. James Mason is perfect as Captain Nemo. The only thing which doesn't work for me is Kirk Douglas' over-jokey Ned Land.

From DR TCB:

I'm not sure what that means but I'm still chuckling over it.

one advantage of being Lutheran is that we eat meat on Fridays  :)  So we had the 2 for $20 steak dinners

Funny, much of my childhood we didn't eat meat at home on Fridays.  My parent's traveled a lot to medical conventions so they hired live in help to clean & watch us on Saturday nights and when they traveled.  Many of these women were catholic & in respect to them we didn't have meat for dinner.  I also attended Sunday church with a number of the women as not to be left at home alone.

Our waitress was a  very pleasant young woman in her 20's and suddenly she looked at me and said I think you were my Sunday Schoolteacher! We chatted and sure enough I was her  SS teacher -  when she was 6!  She just moved back inteh area so we told her we had just come back from the service and discussed upcoming Easter and all the changes since she had been gone - (new young Pastor - expansion of music ministry) and she said she woudl be there Easter morning - so let's see!

I hope you see her tomorrow.

Saturday morning greetings!  Last night's overtime win by Michigan prompted text messages from 2 nieces and a phone call from our son.  I think they all wanted to make sure I wasn't having another heart attack.  Go, Blue tomorrow against Florida!

BK - I would think that perhaps  it might be a wise idea to use your alarm and lock your back door when you jog - you can get a little wrist band that holds your back door key - you don't need to have the whole key ring in your pocket

DITTO!!

Or pin your key to your jogging shorts.

probably a wise decision as  year after year her main course ends up going home with everyone in tupperware - however I was going to make Skip's famous  deviled eggs

Offer to make the one appetizer & why it is special.

Maybe I'll make  'em anyway and keep them at home -  we can eat them while watching the  Third Season premier episode of Game of Thones  Sunday night

LOL  That works as well.

DR vixmom -- maybe the car itself has some kind of alignment issue that's wearing the tires out too fast, or unevenly?

Is it all four?  My previous car, an otherwise wonderful and lovable Nissan, was HELL on front tires and required all too frequent front end alignments.

I've also had that problem.  We get our tires from Les Schwab, a tire dealer.   We can stop in anytime to have our tires checked & rotated for free when needed.  They honor their tires when there are problems.

It may be Easter but it's still very cold and we've just had a snow shower. The weather is expected to stay cold until at least mid April.

So, we made our pastoral call, then browsed in a bookstore that's also a Vera Bradley enabler retailer and went to lunch at Chipotle.  Now we're relaxing at the hotel before Richard has to leave for the vigil.

This is the sanctuary of the church where I was raised.  I still attend this church, or did until this wheelchair fixation came about.  The windows represent The Lord's Prayer.

Hey Ginny, Go Blue!!

Thanks, DR TCB!  Tonight, I'll slip entirely out of character and cheer for Ohio State.  Tomorrow, we'll high-tail it home in order to see Michigan's 2:20 tipoff.

vixmom - Was it true that people gorged on appetizers and the dinner wnet to waste, or was that an exaggeration on her part?

Good afternoon.  Beautiful day here.  I've had a couple windows open most of the day.  I love airing out the house.   The cats enjoyed it for awhile, basking in the sun on the window ledges, but now have wandered off to nap somewhere soft.

Beautiful stained glass windows, TCB.  Is the sanctuary wheelchair unfriendly?
