Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both wacky and worldly, and now it is time for you to post until the wacky and worldly cows come home.

Ben - Re shows like THE OFFICE - i guess I see shows like that as "making fun" of the office politics rather than actual living the office politics.  Kind of like seeing HOW TO SUCCEED , which is full of the back-stabbing an front-stabbing, but stylized in a way that if I see types i know in life from work i can say they nailed those people, if i see qualities of myself i can say ooh that's me in my office habits so maybe I can change that if that's indeed bad office behavior.

Kind of like Archie Bunker fighting with Michael Stivic on All in the Family but Archie clearly being the lead character - - i never saw him as spending a half hour with a bigot as a star , i saw him as spending a half hour looking at a bigot being exposed and commented on.  as opposed to mary tyler moore Show, where for the most part, i felkt we were spending time with people we might like to hang out with rather than comment on, and just the Ted Baxter and Phyllis and Sue Ann types were being laughed at.

But that's great discussion stuff you brought up on that.  It does make me think about the need for networks (and I wonder if it applies to big commercial shows like shows on Broadway) to consider what people wnat to see after they've worked hard all day.

To bring it to theater, HOW TO SUCCEED is so stylized that it's easier to laugh.  THE APARTMENT and PROMISES PROMISES are of course more "real" and human, so it actually hurts more if you see the reality of day-to-day office politics.  I think.  Not a quality evaluation by any means, just a comparison of how the works stand based on rael-life office situations (at leaat as they remained when I started being in offices several years after the eras of those shows).

Good morning, all.

No hithering and yonning today, which is a bit of a relief.  It's a day to stay around the house and get things done.  It is well needed for that, and I'm in the mood for it.

There's never been a time I didn't like William Holden.  Always a wonderful presence.  I might have seen SUZIE WONG as a kid, but have no memory of it, so I'll keep an eye out for the DVD.  Also have been wanting to see THE KEY.

If anybody with a kindle is interested in reading Stephenie Meyer's book THE HOST (that is now a movie) it is $1.99 today. It is really good (although the first 100 pages are a bit slower).

Also her other Twilight ebooks are all $2.99/each.

Good morning, all!

I slept late, I will shortly begin the laundry, and tidy up the apartment. I'm doing as little as possible this weekend. All of the recording madness this week, and now the non-response from the Man from Philadelphia, has worn out my mind and body. The curious thing is that I think I got our leading man yesterday, the one the producer wanted for the recording, but so far that leading man has not confirmed that he is indeed accepting the job.  So, until I hear from him, I cannot move, and that's frustrating.

So, on to the chores to occupy my mind and time.

We were both dressed in all black - long skirts to the ankle- and the other assisting - a young man, Sean,  was likewise dressed in all black as was Pastor.   The music was done by the full adult choir (about 30 people now)  the string choir and the bell choir

Sean stood at the altar and read the prayers, I stood in the pulpit and read the prophecies  from Isiah and the Vixter stood at the baptismal font and read the Passion from Luke and Pastor did the darkening

We start with the church lit my seven aisle candles and the large Christ candle  in front of the altar - (the church was stripped of all other candles, hangings etc  Thursday evening)  the only "decoration" is a black stole on the  large cross hanging over the altar

we started with strings , then bells, then a hymn, a prayer, reading from Isaiah, reading from Luke, prayer... one candle extinquished and we continue this way until the church is lit  by only the Christ candle - then that candle is carried  out  and  as the entire church is in darkness the back door is SLAMMED to symbolize the rolling of the stone in front of the tomb - and all exit in silence

Our tradition is that we do not even speak on our way out to the cars -

It is a very moving and somber service

Our waitress was a  very pleasant young woman in her 20's and suddenly she looked at me and said I think you were my Sunday Schoolteacher! We chatted and sure enough I was her  SS teacher -  when she was 6!  She just moved back inteh area so we told her we had just come back from the service and discussed upcoming Easter and all the changes since she had been gone - (new young Pastor - expansion of music ministry) and she said she woudl be there Easter morning - so let's see!

I have nothing to add to the TOD - I just checked out his filmography and realized i I have seen  pieces of some of his films on TV but never the whole movie

Bridge on the River Kwai
Sabrina
Towering Inferno
Sunset Boulevard
and Network

I must do some homework

Saturday morning greetings!  Last night's overtime win by Michigan prompted text messages from 2 nieces and a phone call from our son.  I think they all wanted to make sure I wasn't having another heart attack.  Go, Blue tomorrow against Florida!
