Wasn't johnny depp once also talking about playing Witchie-poo in H.R. PUFNSTUF?

Kate, all good recommendations, but here's some others that are a bit later but wonderfully entertaining:

Billy Wilder greats: Witness for the Prosecution, Ace in the Hole, Sunset Blvd., The Lost Weekend, Double Indemnity, and his comedy One, Two, Three - dated in its politics but hilarious in performances and story.

The original Manchurian Candidate.

I also think Kate might enjoy the Hofstetter books - she sounds like Adriana, actually.

Hey BK,

Good for you.  You must be in really good shape to jog.  I try to walk as much as I can.
Cannot Jog, sore knees.

Did you read my post regarding your novels?

Great lyrics, FJL.

Thanks, John G!  I'm trying to find the actual words, if he's really doing this, but they must be on an old computer, LOL.   He was really serious about the Witchie-poo thing, I think.  But PUFNSTUF fell through when Krofft's LAND OF THE LOST with Will ferrell failed at the box office inexplicably.

Good Morning Everyone:

My nephew has left for Baltimore to get ready for American Ninja Warrior tryouts.  It will be Friday and Saturday.

Kevin H, my other brother Rick, and my niece will also be going.

Also, we are having a benefit for my brother/law Dave this Saturday at a Post.  He has a rare form of cancer.  Please pray for his recovery.

Health vibes for DR Kate's brother-in-law!

Ninja vibes for the nephew of DR Kevin and Dr Kate!

Johnny Depp as Carol Channing?

http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/johnny-depp-want-play-carol-channing-215824713.html

This came up when Depp was playing Sweeney, didn't it - because there was talk of some Carol Channing - Sweeney Todd crossing-over - or maybe cross-dressing  :)

“Swing your diamonds wide, Johnny
Hold them to the skies
Freely flows the blood of those who're Loreleis

His beads are new, his hair is Cher’s
A feathered boa, some fancy stairs
He'd seen how Mrs. Molloy behaved
And all of the money that Horace had saved”

"Stiff back or stiff knees
You're great at Epiph'nies
Sweeney is a girl's best friend"

Or

"It takes a woman
To quietly brood
To bake him and change him
To her kind of food"

Or

"Mrs. Levi what a charming notion
Eminently tactical and inappropriate as always"

That's from  memory from when this idea was in the "news" years ago.  can't find the actual lyrics.

;D Very good, DR FJL!  ;D

I love old Black and White movies.  I think there are still some I haven't seen.
Can anyone recommend any?  Not before 1940 please.

Some of the best from the 1940s:

Mildred Pierce
The Letter
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Rebecca
Bride of Frankenstein
Suspicion
Arsenic and Old Lace
Casablanca
Double Indemnity
The Third Man
The Lodger
Gaslight
Spellbound
To Be or Not to Be
Great Expectations
How Green was my Valley
The Song of Bernadette
It’s a Wonderful Life
Jane Eyre
The Lost Weekend

Wow, TCB, that cruise sounds WONDERFUL. I may have to stow away in your luggage (I'm small, I'll fit). But I may have to stow away in Larry's luggage also. Dublin, dear Dublin.

Ben, in which of my suitcases would you prefer to travel?  The one with my shoes or the one with my underwear?

Hey BK,

I checked out Murder At Hollywood High.  I guess you think the protagonist, Andriana, reminds you of me.  I do see some similiaries.

Now I definitely have to buy the book.  It received great reviews. .  Maybe in the future you can really base a book on me.  (HA HA) (Just Joking) Hey, but you never know!

Hello again BK,

I see one of the Adriana Hofstetter books is Murder at the Hollywood Historical Society.
Can you believe that a few years back I was the secretary at The West Seneca Historical Society in West Seneca ny(Where I live), which is a suburb of Buffalo, NY.

Also I do love a good mystery, (book or Movie)

Hello Bk Again

I do so love a good mystery. I figured out  "who it was" in the movie "Usual Suspects during the last 5 minutes of the film.

I passed a sign on my way to work. One of the lotteries is up to $83 million. When Larry and I both win it that's still 41.5 million each and I can retire and Larry can keep working on Roberta.

Elmore has promised to split any lotter proceeds with me if I promise not to visit NYC again.

In a pig's eye!

and i am home from Toyland. I've left a message for the actor's manager and I wait on a return call.

So, the ex DP got his loan.  So, the DD and I will be vacating the cave hopefully by Memorial Day.  Going to check out an apartment complex that I lived in before before I came back to the house.  It was a good location, etc.  Kinda pricey but worth every penny.  I have rather bittersweet feelings about all this.  Part of me feels defeated, as I usually do in whatever the ex DP do things together, and I realize I shouldn't feel this way.  I'll miss the house and the yard, but not the "living" part.  I'll get over it.

In other news, the helicopter show is going well.  Tech is this Sunday.

The web show opens tomorrow, and THANK GOODNESS I'm done today.  That's all I'll say about that.

DR Kate - Suspicion is Alfred Hitchcock's film with Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine (both at their best). The Lodger stars Laird Cregar, Merle Oberon, George Sanders and Cedric Hardwicke in a fascinating reworking of Jack the Ripper.
