The two "partial films" I saw; one was an old friend and one was a discovered
treasure.  The old friend was APOLLO 13.  I can't believe how caught up I get
watching that movie.  Even knowing how it ends, I still hold my breath wondering
if they will make it.  Another movie with a great cast of actors from Tom Hanks
to Gary Sinese.

And the discovered treasure, but probably only a discovery to me, was a film
entitled BIG FISH.  I couldn't really describe it, nor would I want to try, but
if you get a  chance to see the film, go for it. Albert Finney in his most
American role.  A touching little film.

Big Fish, the musical, is trying out in Chicago. The reviews were quite encouraging.

BIG FISH on stage sounds strange enough, but I guess it would be terrific as a musical

Actually there have been enough histrionics on this cruise to make a good soap opera.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to the Humane Society garage sale.  No, they aren't selling things from the Humane Society, they are selling donated items FOR the Humane Society.  I'm guessing that there may be some good finds at that sale.  It's the first really nice weekend and the end of the month so I think I"ll drive around and look for garage sales.  They are always best at the end of the month...people moving who need to get things sold

In a way, it seems more like a couple of years!  Can it really only be last June - ten months ago - that BK, DR Elmore, DR Ben, DR FJL, E&T DR Producer Julie, and some singin' gal named Sandy Bainum had our first get-together??

I am so very glad that you came to join our family here!!

My son and I sat outside and watched the mockingbird feed the fledglings.

http://www.andthisiswhatisaw.net/2013/04/hungry-baby-mockingbird.html

The babies are very loud. And the second after the parent drops the bug in that big open mouth, the baby starts crying again for more.

that is a GREAT photo!!!  Thank yiou Laura!

Oh HELL.  Which Carousel??

Couldn't have anyway, as I was playing a show.  But have I stopped into the Comcast office for a DVR?  I guess you can guess the answer to that one.

In other news, I am relieved and delighted to say these (now)-amazing high school kids pulled a great opening night of BARNUM out of their collective arse.  There are many nits to pick, but it wasn't the disaster one would have fully expected after last night's debacle.  And this place is no Calabasas.  No, sir.  But somehow, the spirit of the show was unleashed like a genie from a bottle -- for the first damned time -- and they even covered a few tech bloopers better than you could ever imagine.

I started listening to the French production of Sunday In The Park With George sung in English. I'm so used to hearing it sung by Americans (Broadway Cast) that the British cast is sometimes off putting.

It is available for listening for another month. So I will take my time. This show is really a visual delight so listening only to everything (dialogue included) can be a bit of a chore.
