So, was Bette Midler robbed? The NYT wrote a love poem to her, called the best thing on the boards these days and no Tony nomination.

Haven 't seen it and I most likely won't. I would like to see it but the cheapest ticket is $80 f*****g dollars (for the last rows of the balcony at the Booth Theatre) and the cheapest Playbill discount is $100. I will not buy into this bullshit. As much as I would like to see the show I refuse to pay those prices.

That's what you have to pay here for the upcoming Barry Manilow concert.  Couldn't believe it as I charged it to my credit card

I think I paid $125 for Donny Osmond tickets. I didn't even ask the price. I just charged it. There are some benefits to being old -- like credit.

I should be all over this TOD, but I've been thinking about it all day, too, and haven't come up with a single desert-island type answer.

It's even hard to pin down a category.

For me, if I could have any collectible right now I'd want a Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post cover painting.

any particular one?

Bought a new suit today. I'd been thinking of getting something light for the summer (assuming there will be a summer) and without specifically intended to buy one today happened to come across one I liked. Having got into a buying mood I then bought some trousers - or pants as I believe they're called on your side of the Atlantic.

I don't know if anyone says trousers anymore.  I wish they did.

We say "trousers" and also "spectacles" "braces" (meaning men's suspenders)

Well I found some just brought over from Target brand new Gibson Fine China in a very nice color.....six dinner plates, six salad plates, and six mugs and got them all for $13 with an additional 10% off with my Goodwill Rewards card.  And I got two bar stools, very nice ones for $9 each for my sister....again 10% off.

Then I pushed my cart around the corner and there was a Vizio 22"  flat screen HD TV......I put it in my cart drove it to the end of the aisle and plugged it in....came right up.  No remote....but i came home and plugged in my mother's Comcast Box, fixed the Comcast remote to work the Vizio, did a channel scan....and now she has HDTV.....$40 less the 10% discount....

WOW Congratulations!!! I may have to come t Indiana  your Goodwill beats my Goodwill!!

ChasSmith, here's the logo for the new British production of Barnum, which is to star an old acquaintance of DR Elmore's, Christopher Fitzgerald:

He'll be wonderful! I love Chris.

Callie has been limping for the past couple days. I called the vet today but couldn't get her in until tomorrow.  It was a lot worse when I got home, but she was running around and it didn't seem to bother her too much until a couple hours ago.  She looked at the stairs like she wanted to go up, so I carried her up and watched tv upstairs with her for awhile.  She didn't like the thunder, but other than that she seems to be resting well.  I'm a bit concerned but I'm taking her in at 9:30 in the morning so I'll know more then

Well, I am off.  My cousin is up again for a follow-up job interview!  They came up a couple of weeks ago for his first interview.  They're staying at my sister's, so that's where I'm going.

Until later!

GOOD VIBES TO YOUR COUSIN!!!!

Thanks, Jane!  I don't know when/if he'll hear anything.  I don't know if he knows. :-\

Went out to greet the Veuve Cliquot airstream that's driving through town and dispensing all kinds of Champagne. It's a label I think I like a little too much.

After that and some shared plates -- lamb kebabs, a rib-eye burger, house-made chips, shrimp with undercooked green beans and pork belly -- went to one of those handcrafted cocktail bars. Turns out I know the owner, who remembered me before I remembered him. Made me a couple of fine gin cocktails. And I don't want to go to work tomorrow.

Saw this performance by the musical and drama students - BFA and MFA - tonight.  They do this for agents and casting directors, but I'm suspecting the majority of the audience were classmates, family, and friends.  I'm sure a few agents sent their PAs or interns down for some free food.  The only person I knew was Karen Morrow, who spent a day doing one of her workshops with them.

I just watched "Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited: The Fourth Doctor: Tom Baker," on BBC America.  They're doing a half hour retrospective/clip show about all 11 Doctors (one a month) and they're up to number four, now.  I haven't watched much of "Doctor Who" before the reboot in 2005...just clips over the years.  It's fun learning about them and how the show and the Doctor have changed over the last 50 years.

After the retrospective, they shown a four-part episode featuring that specific Doctor.  The only thing I really don't like about this is that the episodes, which were, of course, filmed/videotaped in TV's 4:3 ratio, are stretched to fit widescreen TVs!!  WTH??  It's all distorted and looks wrong. :P Why didn't they have black bars on the side so that it looks normal??

Otherwise, I enjoyed it.  I also just found out that these shows are going to be released on DVD (to be released on July 16, 2013)...I can only hope that the actual episodes on the DVDs are NOT stretched out.
