That little boy in the clip was probably scarred for life.

Did a three-mile jog, had a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, picked up some packages, have been sending sheet music and mp3s as I get them - and that's been that so far.

I posted this elsewhere but wanted to share my warm memory of Joyce Brothers:

It was the programming person for my law school's speaker group, (before answering machine were the norm).  During summer break, my parents had gotten used to people calling at home from offices like those of wonderful speakers like Jane Pauley and Andy Rooney and Ellen Burstyn, to talk over their plans and topics for social issues and entertainment matters, in what was called the "Harvard Law School Forum." (They didn't get paid at a very adamant rule of the law school, but everyone tried to treat them really nicely, of course!).

Joyce Brothers, it happened, decided one evening to just pick up the phone herself rather than have her terrific assistant do it, and my dad got the call while I was out.  (For some reason, I remember what i saw that night, The Dance and the Railroad at the Public.)   My friend Keith relayed the next day my father having been on the phone with him asking, "Do you know where Freddie is?  Dr. Joyce Brothers is trying to reach him."

Keith called me the next day and burst out with [as if I were a patient of Dr. Brothers or something]:  "Who the [cuss word deleted] are you that Dr. Joyce Brothers called you?  And at home yet?"

It didn't work out with dates for her to speak that year, but I had such lovely conversations with her - and really, she never tried to analyze anything I said, LOL - just a warm, delightful lady, who while she was planning to do a speech, was genuinely interested in what the students would be interested in hearing about.

Nice story-thank you for sharing it.

Nice story DR FJL....thanks for sharing.

I always remember Dr. Joyce Brothers in the out take from her appearance on HAPPY DAYS when she flubbed her lines and pronounced the family dog a homosexual.....

I had an interesting ride home last night.

Actually, it wasn't exactly the ride home;  it was one of the stops near home that elevated my adrenaline.

I was behind a car at a traffic light where I needed to turn left to complete my trip home.  I was about one-half mile from my garage.  The light had just changed to red, and I heard sirens.   They were definitely coming toward us, but I couldn't tell from which direction.

The sirens got louder....and louder.  Suddenly, a white van appeared in the intersection and the driver made a very sharp and dangerous left...into the lane opposite where I was sitting.  I figured he was desperately trying to get out of the way of whatever was coming.  As it turned out, he was trying to get away "from" whatever was coming.  He hit the curb, swerved out a little and then hit the curb again.  He was about two car lengths behind me when he came to a stop.  The driver's door opened and a white guy fell out of the van onto the road.  My first thought was that he was ill or having a seizure or heart attack or something.  Then I saw the gun that fell out with him.  Then came the onslaught of police vehicles: Three of them made the same very sharp turn.  One stopped in the lane beside me and took out his pistol.  Another stopped between my car and the van blocking my sight.  At that point, I was relieved that I was less a target if that dude had decided to start firing.  More cars came.  Then motorcycles.  The guy in front of me made a slow right turn and I was suddenly at the light.  When it turned green, and since the sirens had stopped, I made my left turn and completed my trip home.

It was all surreal!

Oh My!   and what a contrast from the lovely page 2 dance.

It looks as though I'm registered to take my second to the last class for my master's. I'm not looking forward to it. The time off and problems with the school over registration, etc., have left me with little desire to finish these last two classes.

I'm sorry this isn't an exciting event when it should be.

Looks like they had nicer costumes than when I was in SHOWBOAT playing Frank....here are Frank & Ellie in THAT particular production....I think we are singing our big Act Two number: Goodbye, My Lady Love.....and I accompanied myself on the tambourine.

You look very handsome here.

I walked 20 minutes to hitch a ride to my book group this morning & then had a nice 20 minute walk home.  I dawdled talking after the meeting with the hostess & then with the woman who picked me up.

I have had a nice day today.

We finally finished casting only to find out that one of our men (the one who's been cast for weeks) may have to drop out - he's on availability for a film that shoots in Vancouver the week we rehearse and do the show.  I'm so tired of this - it NEVER EVER happens with the women - only the men.  I'm ready to stop using the men in these shows - because they are ALWAYS a problem in terms of finding, committing, and then doing, save for Damon Kirsche and Robert Yacko.  But Damon's away until September and Yacko is back with us for June but who knows after that.  But other than that, it's just too hard every single month.  You'd think it wouldn't be like that with all the talent in LA, and it's never like that with the gals.  It is so irritating.  And then I see these putzes who repeatedly can't do our show (we've asked a couple of guys about twelve times each - never available) do these freebie other shows.  Needless to say, those people will never be working for me in any capacity ever.

It seems odd there is a difference between the men and women.
