You can still rate a book 3 1/2 stars on goodreads. Just include it in the text. Many many people do this (including myself). I need half stars, so I use them a lot.

LOL But then that would require me to make a comment.

You don't have to write anything else.  I know it doesn't make a difference to the rating. But a lot of people look at the reviews and ratings. So I would definitely rate it what you really think.

Well, it's early, but I must be off.  I need to get something to eat, and then go to the theater to help the sound guy work on the microphones to make sure that they all work.  That's something that should be dealt with before the actors get there.  Wish us luck!

Be back later!

I think we rate books differently. To me 3 stars is okay. 4 stars is I like it. 4.5 I like it a lot. And 5 stars is rare it means I absolutely love it/perfection. I think I have given 5 stars to maybe 5 books this year so far (out of 46 or so). I don't give 5 stars easily.

I think 3 stars is a decent rating.  There are plenty of authors I gladly read again but only give a 3 star rating to.  Most those books would get a 3 1/2 if there were a half star option and why I'm more bothered not having the half star in the 3 stars ratings.

4 stars is a very good rating from me, especially as I give few books 5 stars.  I think I've given fewer books 5 stars this year than you have.  Since 4 stars, to me, is a high recommendation I don't mind as much not having the half star.

I would say we think pretty much the same about the rating.  I just think I'm less generous than you are.

I actually don't think that we think the same about ratings. I don't think 3 stars is a good rating at all. Not in my ratings.  Since you haven't done half stars I think that you like books that you rated 4 stars more than I do (my equivalent is probably 4.5 stars).   Also you give books 1 and 2 stars and I don't. I research the books I read a lot. And follow a lot of the authors I read on facebook and twitter.  If I'm not crazy about a book I will either stop reading it and not review it or write a detailed description of what I did and did not like but give it 3 stars.

Drats I was just going to plant some flowers but someone is mowing their lawn right near me. And I am allergic to freshly cut grass and cannot breathe out there.  I wonder how long it would take for the smell to go away. I guess I'll check back in two hours.

When we lived in Michigan the second time we lived in a neighborhood where everyone had a lawn service.  It seemed to me that we all had our lawns mowed on the same two days of the week, days which I had to cover my nose and mouth for half of my walk.

On my bike ride even though today is a holiday they were mowing beside a portion of the bike path. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't breathe. Luckily it was only for a few minutes of my ride.

Luckily today at 6pm the smell was gone so I was able to plant. Now I am super tired.

I don't know why they don't have the 1/2 stars in their system. It would be much better. But I have seen tons of people put the half stars at the top of their reviews. I have been doing this for ages mostly because I need that 1/2 star!

Several children and teachers were pulled out alive.  I hope there are many, many more rescued.

In Michigan, as these children were, mine were at school in the hallway waiting out a tornado warning while I practically slept through it.  I could see the wind and was listening for the siren to go off.  Seems it did but I couldn't here it from where I was.  A high school, not ours, was hit.  The only students there by then were from some sport practicing in the gym.  The coach lines them up outside of the gym, which had a direct hit, and they were all fine.

Last night I put a hold at my eBook library.  Looking at it now I am 222nd out of 225 holds on the queue. ;D
It does say there are 2 books available & my library might move faster, which likely means one of those books is solely for my library.

However I got home and turned on the weather channel because the clouds were looking dark.  When I did they had live coverage of the tornado as it devastated Moore, Okla.  They are saying it's worse than Joplin was.   The damage is 20 mile long and 2 1/2 miles wide.  Kids were in school and the school was hit.  I'm just heartsick

It's hard to know what to say. It's all such cold comfort for the victims. i have mostly questions, but the news of the school is truly devastating. I hope Sioux City will be okay.

Sioux City is fine and far away from the really bad weather.   Joplin just got a tornado warning and they just announced there are as many as 24 kids from the school in Oklahoma who died.  This is just awful.

I searched news of Sioux City today & was pleased not to find any.  Searching Joplin I don't even see warnings, only news about the previous tornado that hit.

The discussion board has been updated on the staging site - it's not current yet, in terms of the topics - it's back on May 7, but there are several fun new features on the main page.  Lots of stuff to work out and as soon as the tech guy says go, I'll let vixmom and George begin testing things.  Right now, only the oldest avatars are showing up, so I've alerted him to that.

Sorry for leaving you hanging. It went south of therel.  When I heard there was a warning I called mom.  She said she had talked to my brother in law and Joe had just arrived at their house and they were going to seek shelter.  They have a tornado room built into their basement so as long as they know and have time to get there, they will always be ok

DR Jane when I'm curious about what's up with weather in a town, I usually do a Google search for a tv station for that town and then click on weather.  If there's anything going on they will have it.
