my Mom is HeLL  LEEN  but all my inlaws  call her HEE  LANE

How do you spell that?

Helene

I would just call that Hell-un (like Helen)

Or Hell- ene (like saying the letter N  -that is how we would say it in French).

I have never heard it said Hell - leen. And definitely not Hee lane

I think it is because here there is a French name Helene with an accent on the 2nd "e". So we would say it the  French way here.

Almost time for LIBERACE, followed by MAD MEN.

I'm watching the Doctor Who special on the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, then I'm going to watch and record to my DVD burner "Mad Men," then watch and record "Behind the Candelabra," while recording "Smash" on my DVR.

Actually my mother's name really IS Helen  but so was her mother's - so to differentiate they always called my Mom Helene-  I was almost Helen as well but my Dad vetoed it

The National Memorial Day Concert on PBS included a nice tribute to Charles Durning.

Thank you, BK, for today's notes.  However, you are truly preaching to the choir.  I grew up working  in a 300 seat theater in Tacoma where you projected or you were out.  Community theatre audiences are normally shaded toward older audiences, and they did not put up with actors they weren't able to hear or understand.  Fortunately, my junior high drama teacher taught me to project at an early age.  I was six years old when she first cast me as "The Littlest Angel."  Even though she was a good friend of my mother, and they taught together at the junior high, I received no special treatment when it came to projection.

Can someone record and then send me a DVD of Behind the Candleabra - I don't get HBO and don't want to wait until it's released on DVD.

I was going to make my own (standard) DVD...just send me your address.  Anyone else?

I appreciate the offer, George, but I doubt I would ever watch it.

Also, I have seen some of the previews, and I find Michael Douglas's take on the character rather offensive.

My brother came to my sister's (aka Kate) for lunch yesterday.  Later, my brother and I met our niece and her baby for dinner at Applebees.

Kevin, sh is no longer your sister.  She is now DR Kate forever more.

BBC Radio Wales Beverley's World of Music with Ben's review of Annie

It's 54:26 minutes into the show after a Frank Sinatra studio recording of New York, New York

Enjoy!
