Big doings this morning. I spent most of the morning going over the new site stuff and the good news is they've begun the migration. We went over the last of the details, they've got the radio show page working and I uploaded a sound file to it and it works perfectly - those who've had annoying experiences with the show before are going to be thrilled how easy it is now - you literally just press play and that's it. So, the main site is perfect save for the interviews, which will be there at some point soon.
The discussion board is also migrating so here's how that will work: We still haven't figured out the calendar event thing, but that's not a biggie and they will continue working on it. We think we've made it so that when you post it will take you right back to where you left off - as George and Vixmom said, the way the updated board went over we had to check that preference under modify profile, look and layout. But we went in and if we did it correctly, that should now automatically be checked for you - if it doesn't work, then just go into modify profile, look and layout and you'll find the box to check - you can also set other preferences there. Otherwise, we've tested it for a week and all seems well. They will be adding the captcha feature next week for new registrations, and there will be the nice thing that if you click on the "haines his way" at the top of the page it will bring you back to the notes - we've never had that before and I like that idea.
The new notes that go up at midnight tonight will be posted to both the new and old versions of HHW, so even though the site may not have propagated fully, the notes will still be there either way - that will probably be the case for the notes posted on Thursday at midnight. By Friday, the migration should be complete. You may have to refresh your browser.
Now, here's the most important part as regards this discussion board. As of midnight tonight do not post on the old board at all. If you do, those posts will a) disappear, and b) cause problems for the migration. How will you know when you can post? As soon as you go to the discussion board and you see the new version. How will you know it's the new version? It looks slightly different - the home page will have your avatar at the top, and there are more discussion boards now, like one for the Hofstetter books and the other books. It's pretty easy to tell - while it has a similar look, it actually is quite streamlined and attractive.
