At last night's performance of "Cinder Edna" (for which I am running the sound board), we FINALLY had a performance where the microphones didn't freak out at all! No popping, no crackling, no hissing...just blessed amplification...and I try to make sure that it doesn't blast too loudly. The only issue that happened was that one woman's microphone would just cut out and then come back on, but FORTUNATELY, no popping or crackling or hissing.

Today, we have two performances, one at 1:00 pm and the other at 4:30 pm. If everything goes according to Hoyle, I think it'll be safe to assume that the rest of the run will be microphone-problem-free!

Now, let me say that the microphones didn't just fix themselves. David, the guy who set it all up before I got involved in the show, actually came to the theater at about 4:30 and had worked on some things before I got there at about 5:00 pm. After I got there, we tried some things and eventually figured out that the cable that goes from the actual microphone head to the transmitter was loose and that's what was crackling and popping. They had no extra cable, so David went to a local music store where the theater group originally bought the mics (and where he actually works) and bought a couple of spare mic cables. He switched out the bad one and it all worked perfectly (except for the other mic that just cut out and wasn't popping or crackling or hissing)! Thanks, David!!

It's supposed to be another hot day today though not as bad as yesterday. I turned on the AC last night because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise.

The exterminator is due around 10:30am and then it's a defrost the freezer day and tomorrow is a shopping day.

Well, it was quite an exhausting flight. I think I slept a total of about 45 minutes. Luckily, I only had to wait about 30 minutes to check in to my hotel. I took a nap and headed towards Leicester Square to the TKTS booth. I got a ticket for Relatively Speaking, by Alan Ayckborn (sp?). It was very amusing.

Just took the underground and the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) to a different hotel, which is near the O2, where Roslyn Kind is performing tonight. Along with her nephew. Oh, and her sister.

I sort of tried to warn DR DRUXY.....since I had just seen a production up there.....but I was kind of hoping that maybe their better talent was involved with his show....until I saw the photo of the actress in the show.

Good morning, all! One of the best things about the site is the large number of posts it's generating. And welcome, new DR caitymed! I hope I spelled that correctly.

I found my Macbook and ended up spending the evening playing on it: I downloaded all of the updates that I'd missed since I put it away last September. Then I assembled all of my iTunes playlists I'd begun last year, decided I hated the sound on the computer, and deleted a lot of music. I really hate the new iTunes layout. A lot.

By then it was 11:30, so I went to bed.

Kirk Douglas: as a kid, I loved him in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea and that led to my seeing him in Ulysses, which, along with the film Helen of Troy, led me to Homer and Greek mythology. And that led me to four years of high school Latin, four more years in college, along with Greek, and a Bachelors Degree in Classics. All because of Kirk Douglas in a Disney film I was crazy for.

I also like Douglas in Greedy, which is based on Charles Dickens' comic novel Martin Chuzzlewit.
