It would be too bad if someone now wrote about Esther Williams and made up a bunch of lies about her.....

What would they say? That she was -- pun alert -- all wet?

LOL that would be a start.....

Speaking of Liberace...
In that classic Looney Tunes short, when Bugs says, "I wish my brother George was here..."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcqmvGVH9c0

Is that supposed to be a la Liberace?  Does anyone know the reference??

Yes, Lee often mentioned his brother, George, and wished that he was there with him.

I'm up again - I actually got back to sleep after letting the workers in - one thing after another.  I'm still queasy but some of that is probably because I got five hours of sleep and am still weak from having gone almost forty hours without food.  I definitely have to stick to poached eggs, although I'm not really feeling much appetite right now.

Yes, the next Kritzerland show is The British Invasion - songs from Brit musicals of the 60s and early 70s.

Apparently the scheduling a post thing on Wordpress is a known issue - it's not working for a lot of people.  My tech found a plug-in that makes a back-up plan should it fail as it did last night - he's tested it and says it works so I'll try that tonight.

Nice review.....and a nice photo of Mr Coward...or I guess I should say Sir Noel.

I then moseyed over to the BWW page that lists grosses.....the ticket prices are through the roof....I don't understand a top ticket price of $298 for Bette Midler's show....and $440 top ticket for Book of Mormon....  I guess a lot of people are getting tickets on business expense accounts.

Yes, the next Kritzerland show is The British Invasion - songs from Brit musicals of the 60s and early 70s.

There was that British girl revue, "Shout," that managed to incorporate plenty of British songs like "Don't Sleep in the Subway" and "Downtown," thereby making them stageworthy and worthy of inclusion.

Well....now I think I want to see AT LONG LAST LOVE....   I just can't get the idea out of my head that Peter Bogdanavich dictated that article in Cary Grant's voice.

Oh RIP, Esther Williams. Loved her in Universal's THE UNGUARDED MOMENT.

Here is George Nader reading her palm, evidently.

I met Esther's son, Lorenzo Lamas, a few years back. He is just as gorgeous in person as he is on TV ;)

I have a photo of our meeting, someplace. I will have to dig that up one day.

One of the characters, a child pornographer, as I recall, in Maupin's TALES OF THE CITY series falls to his death because of a clipon tie.

I like the last line of this story.
Added her 10-year-old daughter, Mallory, "I hope she's blessed with it. Polite is better than being rich."

Is "blessed" a euphemism?

------------

FROM THE HUFFINGTON POST:

A small slip-up in common courtesy might just have been 84-year-old Gloria C. Mackenzie's lucky ticket.

At least one bystander says Mackenzie cut in line May 18 while waiting to purchase a Powerball lottery ticket, the same ticket that would win her $590 million, the largest undivided lottery jackpot in history.

In a statement released Wednesday, Mackenzie confirmed her lottery ticket nearly went to another woman in line, who Mackenzie says was "kind enough" to let her go ahead and buy her Quick Pick ticket first.

That woman, Mindy Crandell, later told ABC she had been in line with one of her daughters when Mackenzie stepped in front of her. The clerk offered to ring up Crandell first, but Crandell yielded to the elderly Mackenzie.

Weeks later, when Mackenzie stepped forward to claim the prize, Crandell's daughter pointed out the winner's similarity to the woman who had cut in front of them in line.

Reached for comment by Tampa Bay's WTSP, Crandell says she has no regrets about letting more than half a billion dollars slip through her fingers. "I'm not upset," she said. "I mean ... maybe there's something down the road, or she needed it more than we did. Whatever it was, it was meant to be that she had it."

Added her 10-year-old daughter, Mallory, "I hope she's blessed with it. Polite is better than being rich."
