Wow I am impressed a man of that girth did that back flip

So was Richard!

Richard did a back flip?

If he had, I'd be calling 9-1-1 right now...

You should read the Facebook comments about the opening number - BEST OPENING EVER says Lucie Arnaz - and others can't wait to agree.  GENIUS.  BRILLIANT.  And anyone who doesn't think so hates theater and is a jerk.  We shall see which camp I'm in.

I think, if you want to see MATILDA, you should all watch the wonderful Danny deVito film.

I thought you'd made that clear already!

Oh, good. We get to see Victoria Clark show us how hard she acts next.

I was very happy for the Best Supporting Actor; I've always liked his work. I was rooting for Spike; I liked Billy when he was on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

I wonder, DR Cillaliz, if DROOD wasn't mentioned in the opening because it's no longer running. This show has become all about getting tourist butts into theatre seats and the cast coildn't be a part of the opening's routines.

I think that's probably true. I know they aren't performing a number, but you'd think you could say the name of the show.

"The crowd loves it" - they're back at Radio City, where 90% of the audience are teens and musical theater FANatics who are told to scream for their favorites - I hate Radio City for these awards and it's just like American Idol crap.  Oh, for the days when the awards were held in normal B'way theaters and the theater community was the audience - not rabid, screaming kiddies.

Last year they went back to a regular theater, but I guess they didn't make enough money.

The Tonys more than any awards show, at least for the past decade, is all about the wrong things - little of it is about the awards themselves and a lot is about promotion and is paid for by the producers of the shows themselves - that's why Drood isn't there.

And when was the awards broadcast ever about making money - that's what's nauseating about these.

I don't believe they named the two shows nominated for Best Musicial that have already closed, either.

Not looking at Facebook anymore - it just brings out the stupid in people like nothing else and that includes some of the people who are up for awards.

Pretty sad. Why don't they just make it a rule you have to be running to be nominated.  I don't mean that, but it seems to be coming an unwritten rule
