TOD:

I recorded BATHING BEAUTY yesterday off of TCM.  The movie doesn't really interest me except for the fact that Basil Rathbone is in it.  It's one of his that I've never seen.

I keep wanting to revisit the films of Esther Williams, and I often ponder why I don't have her films in my library.

And then it always slaps me in the face:  Most of her films either have Van Johnson, or Red Skelton, or both.  I cannot bear either for more than a few minutes at a time.

Thus, no Esther in my library.

Many folks think it's spelled this way!  Mind you, they could all be incorrect.  But I've seen more indications of them being correct than not.

This CAST LIST for a production of the musical seems to think it's spelled MacKecknie, as well.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival seems to be under the same impression.

Greetings from Toyland!

I got here, stepped onto trhe elevator, pressed 10, and rode to 5, then the alarm began ringing, I pressed 10 and got to 6 but the door didn't open, it just reversed and went back to the first floor. The elevator was also screwed up. I called Peter and advised him not to begin a trek to Manhattan until we knew the elevators were working. Ten minutes later I was in the office.

After I left the apartment, I stopped at the bank: my bank card has been cancelled because of suspected fraud.

What is going on today?

Van Johnson doesn't bother me, but I have never been a fan of Red Skelton...even though, I understand, he was a very nice man.

I was tired of looking at PINK ME - so I so I changed my profile to a photo of b/w me....sitting on the bathroom rug in the back yard at about 18 months old....wearing a mohawk hairstyle.  I was a hefty child....and looked like a basketball with arms.  :D

I don't know, DR FJL. It doesn't sound that way from the article, but I suppose it is possible!

I'm pretty sure I have the two box set volumes in my attic somewhere, but I don't think I've ever watched any of them.   :-\

Perhaps I missed something:  Why is Esther Williams a "big fat liar"?

I've only heard nice things about her.

Her book seems to have some untruths in it......according to those who were around at the time.....a lot of it was not true and manufactured to sell book....  It is a good book and she wasn't easy on herself either....and MOST of it was right on....she didn't need the sensationalism, I don't think.

She may have been a nice person.....but she certainly told some things about people no longer around to defend themselves....
