~ ~ ~ SELL-OUT VIBES ~ ~ ~ for Kritzerland's latest release!  Sounds like it will be a great one.

I bought the CD this morning.  Fortunately, it wasn't sold out...yet. ;D

Found this elsewhere...it certainly sums up my weekend in Oakland...and the next couple of days, as well!

Gale Storm sings "Heat Wave"

Note the shot of Zasu Pitts ("Nugey") and James Fairfax ("Cedric"). This was from an episode of "The Gale Storm Show: Oh, Susannah".

To the TOD, after reading a few posts, I will add:

Peyton Place
Imitation of Life
Old Yeller
The Outsiders

and Three Wishes, which I recommend highly to those who would like a good story and a good cry....and Patrick Swayze.

Good morning, all!

I am off to Toyland to work on a Jerome Moross Ballet Ballad; "Susanna and the Elders," I believe. I have nothing else to report at the moment.

I was not crazy about THE PIANO; once was more than enough.

DR ryacko, I'm sorry I missed last night's time machine!  I have a list and here are a few:
1903 Any Ricard, Bessie Wynn, William Norris: BABES IN TOYLAND
1917 LEAVE IT TO JANE (no stars, but itis oe of my favorite Jerome Kern scores!)
1925 Helen Ford, William Norris: DEAREST ENEMY
1927 Charles Winninger, Edna Mae Oliver: SHOW BOAT
1930 Ethel Merman, Ginger Rogers: GIRL CRAZY
1934 Ethel Merman, William Gxton, Victor Moore: ANYTHING GOES
1935 Todd Duncan: PORGY & BESS
1935 Mary Boland: JUBILEE
1938 Walter Huston: KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY
1941 Gertrude Lawrence: LADY IN THE DARK
1946 John Raitt: CAROUSEL
1949 Carol Channng: GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES
1956 Barbara Cook: CANDIDE
1959 Elaine Stritch: GOLDILOCKS
1969 Madeleine Kahn: PROMENADE

Most moving film: AU REVOIR, LES ENFANTS

Great list, DR elmore3003!!

I cannot believe I posted that William Norris was in DEAREST ENEMY! It was Charles Purcell who played over 1000 performances of the title role of THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER.

William Norris was the star of BABES IN TOYLAND, 1903, at the age of 33, and his last role was Merlin in Rodgers & Hart's A CONNECTICUT YANKEE of 1927.

I also forgot Helen Morgan in SWEET ADELINE, the most glorious of Jerome Kern scores!

I knew you'd love it, Jack!   It's a pretty good rendition of "Heat Wave", too!

Indeed.....she had a way with a song.....  One of the reasons I loved her second series was that every other week or so she would SING!!!

Sometimes it was junk like in this clip..but other times it was something great!  This is some of strangest choreography EVER....but I guess if you have four guys in white dinner jackets, you have to do something with them!  I wonder if DR JEANNE's uncle photographed this episode?

I proofed two sections of the Moross, printed and bound a ROBERTA libretto since I cannot find the one I was using, and printed and taped two corrected Violin parts. I think I'll go home.

And speaking of Moross, I just received (among other things) the original cast recording of the musical revue, "Taking a Chance on Love: The Lyrics & Life of John Latouche," which has several selections from "The Golden Apple" and a few other songs with music by Jerome Moross. :)

There are several films that reduce me to a puddle of tears - three of the key ones are The Best Years of Our Lives, The Miracle Worker, and It's a Wonderful Life - never fails.

Just finished a burger and fries and they tasted good.

Then I had a sneezing fit.

And now I feel icky.

Just icky.

Icky.

Also in consonance with the heat wave out west and in the pacific northwest (of all places!), here is an offering from Cole Porter and Ann Miler:

Tuesday afternoon greetings from my last session at McCormick Place!  Finished up the exhibit hall this morning, then had a nice lunch with Richard.  He's waiting for me in a lounge area with a view of Lake Michigan and I'm celebrating the 60th anniversary of FAHRENHEIT 451.

60 years-wow.
