There was one very nice Middle Aged gal that I was chatting with for some time on Saturday. Turned out she was an actress in Hollywood during the 80s and 90s....SEINFIELD, KNOTS LANDING, HEAD OF THE CLASS, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER...her name is Noor and she was great fun to talk to...although she was quite embarrassed when someone revealed to me that she was an actress as she never had much of a career (her words, not mine).

She lives here now and has an agent in Portland, but has found that there is very little work for a brown lady in her age bracket in the Pacific NW, let alone in Hollywood.

It has been so many years since I have watched all of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. I can't recall if I cry at it or just get teary eyed.

Lots of work picking out colors!

Today the hot water boiler in my apartment building was being worked on so there was only cold water for my shower. Although DR Elmore thinks I need one, I just couldn't do it. So I went over to the YMCA to shower.

TOD

I suspect my brain has repressed some of the movies that really, truly, always get to me.
A very short list, then...

THE MIRACLE WORKER.
The I AM LEGEND scene -- I've only seen the film once, but yeah.  (I don't remember anything about OLD YELLER.)
And for something that no one else has mentioned:  TOY STORY.  The first and second films had their moments, but three is a killer.

Now they're profiling Bruno's in Tacoma. Have you ever been there, DR TCB? They say that patrons often lurch into impromptu renditions of the Chicken Dance.

DR SlipShod, we did get a lot of people signed up for Sneha's free Bollywood dance lesson. She was trying to see if there was enough interest to begin regular lessons. A lot of people signed up!

Despite the friggin hottness, the World Beat Festival was quite well attended. We had way more volunteers at our booth then we needed most of the time, so it all become very social for us, just sitting around chatting and (for me) getting to know other members and/or getting to know those better whom I already knew (I am one of the newest members). Majority of group's members are from India (the group begin in the late 70s), a few are Britains, and then there are a smattering of American's.

We only had one tiny little fan in the ten, and all of us were huddled around it most of the time. For awhile there were so many members of our group (either volunteers or those just stopping by to say hi) in the tent, that there was no room for any of the festival's attendents to come in and view the movie posters or see the movie clips playing on the TV.

I am going to suggest that for next year we have all the displays sitting outside the tent, so the social time can go on inside the tent without detracting from people seeing the goodies.

MBarnum, maybe next time you can get something like THIS...it's a battery-powered fan attached to a water bottle.  They're very refreshing!

Found this elsewhere...it certainly sums up my weekend in Oakland...and the next couple of days, as well!

Gale Storm sings "Heat Wave"

Note the shot of Zasu Pitts ("Nugey") and James Fairfax ("Cedric"). This was from an episode of "The Gale Storm Show: Oh, Susannah".

That was fun-thanks.

And HERE is Patti LuPone singing...for those who care for her, like me.  ;)

The Far Horizons / Secret of the Incas CD just arrived!

And with a record-setting 9 out of the 12 little teeth on the hub broken off.    :)

EDIT:  All fixed!

I received the same CD today, with the same issue, but only four of the teeth were broken.  I'll fix it when I get home.  I'll listen to it right after I finish listening to "Taking a Chance on Love," that I received earlier today.

I know it's not Friday, but today I also received the original cast recordings of "High Society" with Melissa Errico and "A Class Act" (replacements for stolen copies) and "The New Chamber Production of Melvyn Bragg & Howard Goodall's THE HIRED MAN."  It's like Christmas in July!
