So, BK, ever thought of going disco and releasing the "Goodbar" soundtrack? It's out of print and outrageously priced on amazon.

People on the HTF are often asking about the film, too.

I read the book and saw it (don't remember which I did first) at the -- Village Theater?  I think.  Haven't seen it since.  Rough story, and sometimes I think I wouldn't even like it now.  But who knows.

Yes, the movie and the novel were tough going, but the soundtrack is just fun.

I have no idea why (about many things), but when I was a lad I used to always confuse Giselle MacKenzie and Nanette Fabray.

John, I think you ought to try and become a contestant on THE AMERICAN BAKING COMPETITION.  I don't know if they are going to have a second season, but I imagine CBS doesn't mind having, yet another, reality show on their schedule.  Anyway, I think you would be perfect for the show.  I think first prize is something like a quarter of a million dollars.

Can't they stop people from setting off their own fireworks? I've never heard of such a thing here. I don't think anybody does that.

They are legal to buy here, but not legal to set off in most cities around Phoenix. But there is no way to enforce it, really.

Can you call the police or somebody every time someone does it?

She didn't know it was illegal to have a fire when the wind is over 15 miles per hour and she does have a screen to put over it (also code).  Hopefully this will take care of it.  She didn't apologize for sicking her dog on me, but I didn't get bit, so I'm not that concerned about it.  And if someone was ranting and raving as they came toward my house...like I was...if I had a dog I'd do the same thing.

Whether it's illegal or not her fire should not fill up your house. That makes no sense. I would not be okay with that.

I feel for you, DR Cillaliz. Although I live on the 4th floor, the smoke from the smokers wafts into all of my windows as I am just above the area where smokers accumulate.

Smoking is not allowed in the apartment building, but it is allowed in the area to the right of the entrance or on the roof top garden.

Usually cigarrette smoke does not bother me much if I am just walking past a smoker...but for some reason, once the smoke has risen to the fourth floor is smells very stale and yuckky...and of course once it is in my apartment, there is no escaping it.

This is probably karma coming back at me for the years that I was a smoker and fouled the air all around.

Have you tried an air purifier?

DVD/Blu-ray/CD:

Nothing at the moment. But I have just seen Tim Burton's DARK SHADOWS on subscription TV which I thought was great - even if few other people liked it.

I used to have the LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR soundtrack on Cassette!  Wonder where it is...but yes a CD would be nice.   Not crazy about the movie....but it is certainly sort of a time capsule of a specific time...

The crew at the fireworks show got hurt last night.

The display blew up on the ground.   Do not know what happened or who went to the hospital.

 :(

Oh my!  I wonder if they has an inexperienced person on the crew.

ARG!  Last night there were fireworks going off until after 2:00 AM.  Now, if it was just one night a year, I could go along with that, but I've been hearing them for over a week now.   AND some yahoo in the neighborhood had a fire so thick I literally had to check my attic to see if the house was on fire.   This just stinks.

I'm surprised that burning is legal this time of year.  I won't mention the legality of the fireworks ;)

For the last few days my facebooks pages have been filled with people frustrated with the constant fireworks and fearful pets.  I have a friend in Washington who said next year she wants to take her crew to Canada.

I blew my stack. The minute I opened my windows she started another fire.  I marched down there, she let her dog off the leash to come and bark at me.   I could tell it wasn't going to bite.  She wasn't willing to work with me so I told her I was going to get the hose and shoot it down the hill at her house.  Of course I wasn't going to do that, but I was pretty ticked. I came home and called the fire department to see what kind of fire they can have.   She wasn't being illegal, but my house was still filling with smoke.   While I was on the phone she came over to work it out.

She said when she likes something she tends to go overboard and that she doesn't really have to have a fire every day and every night.  I told her I let things build up and then sort of explode. She said she noticed.  She has to mow a strip across the street from me and I told her I'd take care of that for her if she worked with me on the fire.  So she said how about she'll do fires at night and not during the day.  It's not ideal but at least I can get some fresh air.    And, since she wasn't being illegal there's nothing I can do about it

I have trouble breathing when people do their seasonal burns.  Why is she lighting fires every day?

I'm sorry, Cillaliz. Good neighbors are a true blessing. I hope your neighbor understands your point of view and becomes a good neighbor.

Ditto and Mae-Ling is so cute.  If I were DR Cilla I would have trouble sleeping worrying about a fire, aside from the fact I would be awake trying to breathe.

In the apartment I lived in before we were married my cat was able to go in and out through the balcony, that is until I saw her almost get killed crossing the street.  One day she came home to the front door with a dog in tow.  Until we moved this dog visited so often I kept treats for him.

Have you asked it the smoking area can be moved?  The idea is that these areas don't send smoke to non smokers.  I, unlike you, often need to cover my mouth and nose when I pass a smoker.

DR Jennifer,  across the river from us is South Dakota where fireworks are legal for a certain time period.  So, people just have to go across the river an buy them.  There are really too many for the police to enforce.  They don't really even try, which everyone knows, so no one is afraid to get them and shoot them off

Boy, it's hot.

Against my better judgment, I'm going to sit in the great outdoors this evening watching "9 to 5", something I have no interest in seeing in the first place, but I'll be supporting friends, and that's sometimes what it's all about.  So...

The neighbor has a strip of grass across from my house she has to mow.  She didn't know and someone turned her in to the weed police.  She got a notice that she had to clear it or they would and charge her for it.  She thought I did it.  She heard me talking to the neighbor and realized I didn't.   I even told her I'll mow it now that it's been mowed down and will be easy to maintain.  That sort of caught her off guard and I think she really will try to work with me.

She has to take a mower up a big hill round the corner and down. It would be a pain in the butt.  I just have to go across the street and mow two small strips
