We have a variety of Dragonflies at the pond.  We only have one Common Whitetail male that I only occasionally see.  I think it is beautiful.  I pulled this off the internet.

Just back from a walk with the DD myself. We go early in the morning and at dusk for our longest walks of the day - makes sense to do so when it is coolest.

Oh, I love Dragonflys! Can't even remember the last time I saw one in real life. Don't see critters like that very often, living in the concrete jungle as I do.

Oh DR KevinH is shuffling off to Buffalo!

Or did someone already post that? I am so tired and exhausted I don't know if I thought to post that because I had just read it or if it just came to me out of the (murky) blue!

That is lovely, DR Jane!

Thank you.  Of course it never holds still long enough for me to photograph it.  That's ok, I like watching it fly around.

DR MBarnum your hometown has been cracking down on illegal fireworks.  I read 20 citations were handed out yesterday.

Got the French version of "Threepenny Opera" on tonight. Interesting in that the same director who made the German version, Pabst, filmed this. He shot one scene in German, then had the French cast come in and do the same scene. The French actor who plays Mack the Knife is more charming than the German, and it makes his evil streak all the uglier.

Went out with friends after work and ate too much. The last course was something called a Nutty D'Angelo: a scoop of ice cream wrapped in white chocolate. Then the server sauteed butter, brown sugar, pecans, cinnamon and nutmeg together before adding brandy and setting the sauce on fire. Then he poured it over the ice cream. Quite dramatic. Onlly problem: He did it too quickly and the sugar wasn't dissolved. So it was a little gritty.

Did you explain what he did wrong?
