I cannot do rides that go around and around.....but the roller coasters and other fast things don't bother me....  I take a Dramamine the morning of the trip, but sometimes it doesn't work.....

Yup just a bit of rain today so far DR GINNY.  I have to go to rehearsal for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE....and we are in the theatre NOW....so it will be interesting to get to do our stuff ONSTAGE!!

That's a thrill-ride, in and of itself, DR Singdaw!

;D    You said it, DR Ginny!  And not nearly so much fun.      :P

DR Jrand62, it amazes me the pace at which your productions, from casting to opening, are produced!

Anyhoo...

My first "big" amusement park might have been Cedar Point (on Lake Erie) which my grandmother took me and my sister to for one day at an early age.  I only have the vaguest memory of being there, nothing specific.  I also very vaguely remember one at Buckeye Lake, east of Columbus, but am not even positive whether we went to it or just saw it from the road.  Another one seen from the road at an early age was the Palisades one in NJ opposite upper Manhattan.  And on one of those childhood trips to NYC in the late '50s we did drive out to Coney Island one afternoon.  Again, only the faintest of memories, but there might be a bad black-and-white snapshot or two somewhere.

As for SOLID memories... well, definitely the "midway" portions of the Ohio State Fair and a couple of county fairs in Ohio.  If we're going to count things like that, and we might have to.  Those were always my favorite parts of any fair.

Honestly, though, until we get to the age where I was going to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, I don't have a lot to contribute in the way of true amusement parks (as opposed to "theme parks").  In L.A. I went to Magic Mountain several times and liked it a lot, but way back in the mid-'70s.  However, with that exception, I haven't been drawn to the huge contemporary Six Flags type of parks.  Which is probably silly.  But I missed the glory years of all the incredible seaside parks -- on both coasts -- like the one BK so beautifully invokes in the Kritzer books.  I would absolutely love going to some of the remaining old amusement parks, like Kennywood which is near Pittsburgh, and somehow or other I need to make that happen.

More later as I think of it.

Well, as nice (heavenly, even) as it's been having the AC off and a few windows open this morning for the first time in what, two weeks?? -- it's about to come to an end.  The morning's overcast kept things feeling pleasant enough, but the sun's out now, there is NO sign of rain (do I sound like DR Laura?  :)  ), and the mugginess is, again, just incredible.

Two major musicals, two straight plays, and three Theatre Workshop for ages grade school-high school....usually auditions & rehearsals for the June show begin in late April.....once we start, it's about two and one half weeks between shows, with the workshops in between the June-July shows and the July-August shows...and we're done with everything by the third week of September.

I've had a big spike in sales of my ORSON WELLES play the last couple of days. I'm wondering if somebody is planning a production...and hasn't told me yet.

I've just seen the proposed artwork for DEAREST ENEMY. I was very disappointed in it: humorless and too somber.

Charla Doherty was a fairly successful child actress who is probably best remembered for her roles in Take Her, She’s Mine (1963), as Jimmy Stewart’s youngest daughter, and Village of the Giants (1965).  For a time, she was also a regular on Days of Our Lives (1965-66).

Charla and I were a couple for the last eighteen months of her life.

My newly published screenplay, CHARLA, is inspired by her story and what happened during those troubled eighteen months.  It is available in both paperback and on Kindle.

I hope you get a chance to read it.

Greetings, all!

TOD:  Growing up in the Philly area, once we moved into the suburbs, I used to frequent a place called Willow Grove Park, a small but wonderful place, about a 20 minute bike ride from my home.

And for the big family trips, we would go to the famous Hershey Park, where the entire town of Hershey, PA smelled like one giant chocolate factory. I wonder now if people who lived there ever got contact diabetes.  ;)

I was a roller coaster junkie as a kid, but no longer. I mean, with the way they twist turn and shake these days, who needs the extra chiropractor bills?   :D

That's too bad. :-\ Does it at least relate to the show or is it just a random image?

I feel the artist missed the boat. I loved his work for the Victor Herbert releases.

Here's a Facebook announcement from the Royal Chaplain who was our host in January:

"Hurrah - Norwich cathedral bells ringing! It is a boy! God save the Queen!"
