Thursday morning greetings!  Whew, I'm glad to have a couple of "down" days after several very busy ones.  I spent about 5 hours at Rob and Mary Linda's new apartment yesterday, getting the kitchen cupboards lined and filled.  They were thrilled to see their things in their new home and to see some empty boxes that they can fill again.  When I got home about 7, I just ate dinner and vegged in front of the TV until Richard called from La Porte, Indiana.  He's there for a couple days of clergy meetings.

Feel better vibes for DR Elmore!  Stress plays a huge role in the sort of problems you're having...

Congratulations to DR John G on the new book deal!  I wonder if he needs a research assistant?

My most recent time to do the back thing was just a few months ago.  You never know how quickly or slowly it will abate.

"32"?   "32"?

Well, in my Navy days (immediately after boot camp in September 1972) I had a 32-inch waist.

For the next couple of decades I "maintained" at "34" to "36".

But...since I quite smoking in October 2000, my acquaintance with the "30s" has gone astray.

On a good day it's a "Howdy, 42!"

The notes were size 32.  I am size 38 now....where MR BK started....but I am down from size 40 - which is ridiculous for me!!

Tonight is opening night.....there is a sequence in the show where my phone rings and my answering machine picks up....then the person hangs up.  The director has decided to have my "mother" leave me a message.....  Okay.....I have told the only other person onstage with me at the time - Best Man George - to expect me to go into a rant about it......  If the director doesn't like the rant....she can take the message out.....

Oh and tonight is Opening Night....  I hope the audience is on board with us from the beginning!  Fingers crossed.  Pray for you know who....

Night before last, I watched the Blu Ray of "That Touch of Mink".

This has been one of my favorite Cary Grant and/or Doris Day films...ever.

The DVD was a major disappointment with a plethora of artifacts (those little sparklies that glisten and gleam in each frame) and dirtiness and muddiness of image and fluctuating color levels, etc.

So, I was looking forward to what I thought would be a vastly improved transfer.

I was not expecting "Pillow Talk" restoration (it's darned near perfect), and I was not (therefore) disappointed.  It was issued by the Olive label...and Olive doesn't do any restoration nor does it quibble over its best-available elements before issuing a film (see "The Quiet Man").  "That Touch of Mink" was released by Universal, but it is not owned by Universal (as I understand it).  The heirs of the Cary Grant estate own it (so I've been led to believe).  So...what we have is what we have.

It ain't perfect, but it's light years better than the DVD.

Ah....THAT TOUCH OF MINK.....  I like the movie as well....although Doris was a bit old for role....

And I only wish that Gig Young had been the "other man" in PILLOW TALK and LOVER COME BACK....instead of Tony Randall...  That would have evened the playing field a lot more with Rock Hudson....   It even made more of choice for Doris in TEACHER'S PET when she got Clark Gable!!!

I didn't count SEND ME NO FLOWERS since Randall played a married neighbor in that one and not a secondary love interest. for Doris.

Congrats on the weight loss, bk. I hope to catch up with you, if not 32s, then 34s.

The book might interfere with that, though.

Regarding the continuing saga of trying to return an eBook to my library I received the following message this morning.

"Apologies, we were looking at the wrong account page yesterday. The book should be returned within the hour. When you return an item, make sure to choose "Return/Delete" and not just delete. otherwise the title will be cleared from your device but not from your account.

Following is my response....

Thank you for removing the book for me.  That I might have accidentally hit "delete" vs "return/delete" was the first thing I thought of.  If I had only deleted the book from my device it seems I should have been able to download the book again in order to properly return it.

DR Jeanne we do have an air filter in our house, how good it is I don't know.  We can still smell the smoke, especially like now when it is worse outside.

On the upside my lungs aren't bad at all and I am sensitive.  I've had far worse reactions from smoke in the air so overall I'm pleased with how I feel.
