An "Ask Bk" item:
Bruce knows all too well how students of film music (i.e. musicians AND fans) are attuned to the styles of various film music composers. We could do a "Name That Tune" contest and identify composers by two or three notes...and the scores by an additional several notes, probably.
This is not about that, but it's close to that.
Last night, I had a dream. I'm not one to relay dreams here at HainesHisWay, but this one was rather odd and I thought I'd share it with (and "ask") BK.
In my dream, I am reunited with some college friends and we're having a great deal of fun talking about old times. During this dream, one of my friends -- who has spent his life in liturgical music -- proposes we play a game sort of like "Name That Tune". The twist is that we dont' name that tune but we sing that tune.
My turn comes, my friend draws a slip of paper out of a bag, and tells me to sing "The Yarmulke Song".
!!
??
In the dream, I'm confident I know what "The Yarmulke Song" is and I begin to think of the pitch on which it starts.*
And then I woke up.
And I don't know a "Yarmulke" song.
I've never heard of one.
So, BK: I'm wondering if there is such a song.
*My best guess is that I was going to sing the Hanukkah song and substitute "Yarmulke" for "Hanukkah".
