I just read the notes again. I see that bk DID mention ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN.
So I'll add... NASHVILLE. And BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK
and for conversation's sake...HIGH NOON, which is a very politically themed pic.
Part of losing the last two hours is feeling totally hyper and not sleepy. I know not why.

DRJOSE walked by the Griffith Observatory - which (in addition to making an appearance in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and THE PHANTOM FROM SPACE) was World Headquarters of the Space Agency in Rocky Jones!

Political movies....hmmmmmmmm....most of my favorites have been mentioned:

THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962) - which is actually a film for ALL generations, how quickly a film for "this" generation will actually show its age.

DR STRANGELOVE, NASHVILLE, JFK

And a couple of comedies THE SENATOR WAS INDISCREET and STATE OF THE UNION.

I don't think I will have internet access today, until I return from rehearsal tonight. Time will tell.

High on my list would be the Michael Ritchie/Jeremy Larner movie, "The Candidate." Judy Holliday shot some good zingers toward the Washington establishment in "Born Yesterday" (and even "The Solid Gold Cadillac").

TOD: Just about all my favorites have been mentioned. I have to say that my particular fav is The Manchurian Candidate. Not only a taut thriller with great performances, but also perversely funny.

The original MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE... I won't even see the remake. When Angela is quoted as saying "I wish they hadn't made it" you know you are trouble. I understand they cut all references to solitare from the remake.

I read yesterday that the reason Kristen didn't stay with WICKED longer is that she and Idena hated each other and did not get along together at all. Has anyone else heard these rumors? Is there any truth to them?

I also like to get an early start. I love the sounds of the city when it's first waking up. But is your local Starbucks open before 6 am?

DIT, I saw that question and was about to log back in to answer it but I couldn't get back into the site for some reason.

We have a deadline every October and to meet it we need to do some overtime in the summer months (from August through the middle of October) hence the 6am office hours (plus Saturday hours). It's a drag on the system but I get paid for it and last year the overtime helped to pay for the Christmas trip to London so I won't complain too much. No Starbucks at 6am. It's either Deli coffee or making a pot at the office. Depending on how tired I am, I will just get a large coffee at the deli or make an entire pot (the coffee at the office is Lousy with a capital L) in the office kitchen. No one else comes in as early so I'm all by myself and get much more work done from 6am-9am than I can do in an entire day sometimes.

Yes, all of my favorites in the political film arena have been named already, but just for the record they are THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, ADVISE AND CONSCENT, ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, JFK.

This week, TCM will be showing THE BEST MAN, a movie I've never seen all the way through, so I am really looking forward to watching/recording it.

What's the name of the fairly recent movie where Joan Allen is in the running for the Vice-Presidental nomination and is in competition with William Petersen for it? Despite the fact that the title eludes my sleepy brain, I did REALLY like it.

A friend who saw BROADWAY'S LOST TREASURES II already (doesn't show on our PBS station until Wednesday night) said that the "Always Mademoiselle" number from COCO will be one of the extra numbers on the DVD issue of the program.

I saw Katharine Hepburn in a scaled-down Toronto production of COCO. And though I'm not as enthusiastic about the show as you are, it does have one of my favorite lyrics. I have only the LP, and no functioning record player, so forgive (and correct) me if I don't have the words quite right. From Let's Go Home:

WEL: I have heard/read Kristen state in many interviews that she absolutely adores Idina, and vice-versa.

One of the main reasons the show works so well is that they had great chemistry.
