Love those Shenandoah commercials (I did get the chance to skip the ad). But Cullum's lip-synching was not the best with the baby squirming in his arms.

Oh, I thought it was the baby singing!

My Daughter/in law was in Toronto and met and had her picture taken with Nathan Fillion of the TV show Castle!

Well, I just ate and now must be off.  Today is our first big run through rehearsal and we'll probably wear whatever costume pieces that we have.  I'm sure that mine are complete.  Our costumer built Hawaiian shirts for me as Maxwell (the producer) and Guy, who plays Matthews, the other producer.  They're made from the same material, so we match.  Isn't that cute? ;)

Cute & funny.

Sorry to hear about Julie Harris.  I remember her so well in Member of the Wedding (the movie!)

After all these years it is also very vivid for me.

The reading went quite well. I could just imagine Dame Judi Dench playing the role of Alice she must've been amazing. Well-written play 90 minutes without intermission. It was basically cold reading none of us at the script before today.

The producer of the theater Company wanted to hear the play out loud in order to decide whether she wanted to produce the play later on in her season.

Today I paid my annual (sometimes twice annual) visit to the local Denny's.  Okay, it's true that I had me some Denny's on a recent trip, but travel ones don't count.  I'm pretty good about limiting myself at home.  ANYHOO, I had the Ultimate Skillet, which probably has no more than about three million calories.

So, in order to work that off, I just watched SHANE, a magnificent film on a magnificent new Blu-ray.  Dare I say I'd never seen it before in my life?  (Well, whose life do you think I'd never have seen it before in?  Of course it was my life.)  Why yes, I dare.  And it is just magnificent.  In case I haven't said that lately.

Cool. The library's placed an order for Pasolini's Trilogy of Life films of the Decameron, the Canterbury Tales and the Arabian Nights. I've never seen any of them. I hear they're more fun than great, but so what?

They are very strange. CANTERBURY TALES may be the crudest and ARABIAN NIGHTS the most visually beautiful.

When I first came to New York, there was a revival theatre at 95th and Broadway, the Thalia, where I first saw THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL.  I saw all of the Trilogy of Life films there, along with Pasolini's SALO, TEOREM, MEDEA, and THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST MATTHEW, all of John Waters' films, and several other fascinating films including the wonderful Alec Guinness film, THE HORSE'S MOUTH.

I've seen Salo, which still ranks as the most horrific movie I've ever seen, Medea and St. Matthew, which I really like, but that may be it for Pasolini for me. Love John Waters, for the most part, and I like but am not fully in love with "The Horse's Mouth." Maybe I need to see it again.

Yup. We had a waiter Tuesday night named Shane. After we'd finished the first bottle of wine, he probably was ready to go into the witness relocation program. Somebody at table kept saying, "Shane! Come back!"

In case there's a basketball fan on this board, Tim Duncan of the Spurs was at the next table over from me at dinner tonight. He politely obliged when a family asked if their 12-year-old daughter (or some age thereabouts) could have her picture taken with him.

I saw Salo, whose horrificosity left me feeling quite weak, thank you very much.  That was my only Pasolini, until I read a bit about the Trilogy of Life films and decided to give those a try via the recent Criterion release.  I'll get around to tackling them one of these days.

John Waters is wacky fun, and I have a thing for Baltimore locations, but there are several of his I still haven't seen.

I feel about Salo as I feel about no other film - if someone handed me the negative and all the prints I would set a match to them.
