RELEASING AND REHEARSING

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were released and rehearsed, not necessarily in that order, and now it is time for you to post until the rehearsed cows come home.

What I've never made, but would have fun attempting: the "timpano" from Big Night.

What I haven't eaten that I'd like to try: the entire meal from Babette's Feast.      :)

Good morning, all!  I finally gave in around 10:30 and took the Tylenol with codeine and a flexerill to help me sleep. The pain in my left leg focused last night on the joint between foot and ankle and throbbed incessantly most of the night. I slept very poorly, but I did get some sleep.

Today, whether I want to or not, I must walk to the corner, catch a bus, and do some banking. I hope to  accomplish that in another hour or so. Tonight, I'm supposed to have dinner with friends who are moving to London. Ihope I am up to it.

If you have any knowledge and fondness of British Music Hall, this program is a lot of fun. It's a tribute to a program called The Good Old Days, a BBC television program which ran from 1953 to 1983. It recreated the atmosphere of the Victorian–Edwardian music hall with songs and sketches of the era performed by present-day performers in the style of the original artistes.

This particular radio program is only up through this Friday, August 30th at about 3pm Eastern Standard Time.

BBC Radio The Good Old Days

Enjoy!

Good morning, all.

Continued healing vibes for Elmore and Richard and anyone else in need.  Dental vibes for BK's daughter.

And Tuesday vibes for all.

TOD: I generally try to make something each year that I've never cooked before. It might be salt-encrusted fish, bread or mayonnaise from scratch, but the point is to get in there and not be intimidated by something. I usually end up doing three or four and really enjoy it.

I'm listening to Julia Child's autobiography of her years in France right now and that is making me want to get in the kitchen and start making sauces.

Good morning, all.

Had to rise and shine (okay, I didn't exactly shine) and load Mikey* into the carrier for his return trip to the vet for dental work:  two more extractions (he's had to lose several already, just one of those cats) and cleaning the rest.  They'll "do" him this afternoon and we'll pick him up tomorrow.

*the cat, not the DR

Which btw is just one more of the good things about this cat clinic -- they won't release 'em till the day after, whenever they've been sedated.  I know someone in NYC who had to bring hers home following something like this, when the cat obviously shouldn't have been anywhere but safely inside a protective cage during recovery.

And now?

Coffee!

TOD

Millions of things.

But for the most part, just a lot of stuff that most home cooks take for granted.  I'm fairly limited in my knowledge.  Which is unfortunate, because whenever I do take the trouble to follow a recipe, it has just about always come out well.  I just take plunges into cooking way, WAY too infrequently.

This coming weekend is Norwalk's famous Oyster Festival.  Well, pretty famous around these parts, anyway. They've got food, rides, entertainment, etc., etc. My first apartment on my own was across the street from the 35-acre park on Long Island Sound that serves as the venue.

In any case, I just got the flier in the mail for this year's event. The headline act on Saturday night is...

Wait for it...

The Oy!ster Festival!

Yes indeed, a fall ritual.

Not that I've ever gone to it, myself.  But if I'm remembering correctly, a friend saw THE MONKEES there some years back.  (Does that sound right?)

Well, when you put it that way...

It sounds like our very own DR elmore3003 should be the headline act!         ;D
