Wow, what a day and evening. Exhausting, I must say, but two amazing audiences - the matinee was not sold out but VERY full and the evening was completely sold out, save for a handful of no-shows. Both shows went very well and our cast was just stellar - Dan Callaway, Kay Cole, Josh Finkel, Jane Noseworthy and Valerie Perri - each so wonderful on all their songs, along with Jenna Lea Rosen (who stopped the show cold with Dear Mr. Gershwin), Sami Staitman and Sarah Staitman, along with our guest star, the great Sharon McNight. All accompanied by the brilliant John Boswell. Co-produced by the tireless Adryan Russ. One of the most moving highlights for me was hearing Sami, Sarah and Jenna do my song Three Friends. They did it so beautifully, and several people were very moved by it. Otherwise, it was just a lot of true highlights - Josh killing it with She Touched Me, Jane hitting it out of the park with a totally unique Getting Married Today, Valerie doing the best As If We Never Said Goodbye ever, Dan doing an amazing The Kid Inside, and beautiful Kay Cole making magic of One Boy, a song from Bye Bye Birdie, which she was in on Broadway. And that's only the tip of the iceberg. A wonderful, magical day and evening. And The Yiddish Sondheim was as funny now as it was when we did What If back in 2004.
