Christie:
Nashville

I don't recall Christie in this film.

She plays herself in a hilarious scene in which Karen Black can't image she's a movie star because of her hair isn't big enough. It's a very funny -- and to me -- memorable walk-on.

LOL....yes....the Hal Phillip Walker guy tells Karen that Julie has an Oscar and the look on Karen's face is priceless.....  Elliott Gould is talked about as the guy who was married to Barbra Streisand...who sang "People"....LOL.....

Is it Gould, not Beatty? I'm getting old!

I was sure there was a MCCABE AND MRS MILLER reason for them

I now think you are right, DR JRand63. I love the film, but I can only watch it occasionally. My last time was around 2004. It's a film that is s wonderful that it hurts, and Ronee Blakly's Barbara Jean reminds me so much of my mother's youngest sister Lois.

I just checked IMDB and it was Gould!

I've been up since eight - the new operating system for iPhone and iPad came last night, so I updated both and spent the morning hours getting used to the new design, new features and just figuring stuff out - some things, like Calendar look quite different.  And tomorrow, the two new iPhone models come out - I will get the 5S - I could never get the five because my plan wasn't up until last summer - I almost got one then but figured something new was coming this year and for the first time waited - and am glad I did.

You could preorder the 5C a week ago so that it would be delivered tomorrow, but you couldn't preorder the 5S - that one can order online tomorrow.  Certainly I won't be waiting in line at the Apple Store.

Today is not only our very dear DR elmore3003's birthday, but it is also National Talk Like a Pirate Day.

So, in honor of that, I offer this:

A pirate walks into a bar. The bartender says "Do you know you have a steering wheel coming out of your crotch?" The pirate says, "Aaaarrrrrgh! It's driving me nuts!"

Prissy is the word I'd use.

Thanks for confirming DR ELMORE....

And I was incorrect - it was Henry Gibson (Haven Hamilton) who tells Karen that Julie has won an Academy Award.....although he also mentions The Christy Minstrels when Julie shows up....

Sure did!  How stupid!

Prissy is the word I'd use.

Prissy, mundane, knee-jerk, silly, boring, predictable...

I'd use 'em all.

This beautiful car is across the street.

I am now trying to find someone who knows how to hot wire a car so that we can go for a joy ride!

I still haven't decided which was sillier, grown men riding earthworms in "Dune" or grown people boring me as cats.

I'd rather see "Joy Ride." But why is the title two words? Is her name Joy or something?

Not to be too personal around here, but I did have the best date ever last night.  It's nice beginning an ADULT relationship with an ADULT without judgement or drama.
