Speaking of the show, I enjoyed it very much.  The highlights for me were:  "I'm a Stranger Here Myself, " sung by Melissa Errico;  "The Trouble with Women" and
"Way Out West in Jersey" (Kurt Weill Foundation Competition Winners); Speak Low (Ms. Errico and Brent Barrett); "Wouldn't YOu Like to Be On Broadway" (Brent); "It Never Was You" (Melissa and Brent); "Mr. Right" (Judy Blazer); and the finale, "Here I'll Stay" (entire cast).  I guess "Surabaya Johnny" is a well-known song (not to me) and it was well sung by Melissa, but I found it very strange!

They showed clips of Mary Martin in the Broadway production (no sound) and clips of Weill's wife, Lotte Lenya, being interviewed about 20 years ago.  I saw Richard Jay-Alexander, who directed this show as well as Ms. Streisand's.  And I chatted with Mr. Barrett for a few minutes.

I enjoyed my visit with our own DR elmore and he graciously lent me his umbrella, gave me some chocolates and..... and the "Dearest Enemy" CD, which was so nice of him.  I'm really looking forward to listening, Larry!

Hope you'll be able to go for a meal next time!

Oh, I almost forgot.  There was a song called "I Remember It Well," with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Weill.  The evening's host explained that Lerner simply used the same title for Gigi, but with completely different lyrics (and music, of course).  But the song is structured (not sure if that's the best word) the same as the one from Gigi.  The man says something, the woman corrects him and he says "I Remember It Well."  Who knew?  Well, probably some our our HHW members already knew all this!

The super and plumber have been here and gone; the leak appears to be in the pipe abve the building's old incinerator and not coming from an apartment.

I've finished my essay on the GOLDEN APPLE score for the Moross site and sent it off for review.

My lower back is giving me pains similar to the ones before I became crippled. I hope this doesn't mean a relapse.

My breakfast visit with Bollywood and Punjabi (Pollywood) film actor, Aman Dhaliwal, on Saturday was wonderful. Such a nice guy and it was great to meet him in person. His cousin Davinder is also a great guy.

Aman brought me some nice gifts including the soundtrack CD to his latest movie and a book on Sikh history, which is a subject he knows I am quite interested in. And he autographed a photo for me.

They are both in Sacramento now, and will be heading to Los Angeles soon. I am so very glad that they were able to stop and visit with me during their motor trip!

I took my camera, but unfortunately forgot to make sure the SD card was in it  :P

...but, Davinder took several photos and he has promised to forward them to me. If and when he does, I will post them.
