I read that the CBC is planning on avalanching we poor innocent tv-watching Canucks with just under 500 hours of coverage.

Ouch.

Without figure skating, hockey and speed skating, why would anyone WATCH the summer games?

I'd like to say, thanks, but I didn't take them. Just found the website.

(I'm disappointed that DD and I are not in at least one of the photos. We was there! Yes, we was. With bells on. That's why they threw us out during the show. All that racket!)

Panni!

You're not on the pics BUT you are in our hearts and that's much more important.... ;)

Jrand53 3/89,

I was almost sure you had that picture because it's on one of Annette's albums -- Scrapbook of my teens, something like that -- and YOU had to have it!!

Thank you, Francois. I actually deleted that post because on reflection (although it was humorous) it seemed petty.

I'm watching one of my favorite infomercials. Chef Tony just made peanut butter with the Ultimate Chopper.
NO! NOOO!!!

NO MORE INFOMERCIALS!!!!!

It's bad enough we have people asking for the products at the store.  It's bad enough that we actually SELL the stuff.

No, our corperate directors have hooked up a TV with a DVD player, which plays a continuous loop of the damn infomercials over and over and over and over and over and over and over and....

Bleh.

...muggy weather makes me very cranky and trust me, Dear Readers, my cranky is NOT very pretty.
Sorry, DR Jay, but I'm hard pressed to sympathize.  Muggy in SoCal is balmy here in SoDel.

Charlie is coming our way, and it's hot and rainy (thus humid to the extreme) and I get to work like a busy little beaver during all this because the rain brings out the shoppers.

I suppose it would be too ungrateful for me to wish they'd all come in, buy out the store, and then wash away.   ::)

Charley left us pretty much alone except for some moderate rain for about two hours this morning and much lower than normal temperatures. I'm very grateful.

I can answer that with one word:

Speedos.

I've got to get up early tomorrow.  As stated, the rain brings on the shoppers, and Charlie is headed our way, with drenching all day today.  Since I'm on call, I'm planning on spending the day working my...uh...tootsies off.

I learned something important today, however.  It pays to throw the boss off guard on occasion.  We were having a private chat, just the two of us, over some personnel problems, and I tossed in her direction "What do you think I'm doing wrong?  I mean, what do you think I need to work on?"  Poor boss had to blink a few times, unsure of what she had heard.  I was actually asking her to critique me?  To find fault with myself?

She was able to come up with an answer (I need to work on my customer relations, helping them while on the floor by asking them if they have questions and such, rather than stick near the cash register), but I really surprised her with the challenge.

Something for everyone to keep in mind, maybe, when working for a paycheck.

Time to finish getting dinner ready.  Corn/Bread Pudding, Salisbury Steaks, and Spinach Souffle.

At least the plate won't be all one color.

July and August were the months I wanted to leave the east coast and visit L.A. Often I would wait for the weather to become unbearable and then plan my escape to the west coast.  On our arrival we found the locals complaining about the humidity, while the kids and I were relieved to be in such a mild climate.  :)

Now I don’t want to go to L.A. in the summer-too muggy for me. :P

Corn bread pudding sound good even if I’m stuffed.

Earlier today we briefly lost power and discovered our surge protector for the computer needed replacing…..so this evening we went to Medford, picked up a new one and went to an Indian Restaurant for dinner.  Since Baskin Robins is across the street from the restaurant we of course had to stop there before returning home.  I brought home a pint of chocolate chip.

It was over 100 degrees in Medford, so nice to be home where it was only 97 degrees.

Panni, thanks for the link.

Short of schlepping over to the west side for hand sliced lox, yes, TJ's is pretty good.

The nearest Trader Joe's to me is more than 40 miles away!  I like TJ's but only go when I'm on my way to Seattle...which is not very often at all.

I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.  Nice photo link - hadn't seen 'em before.  Plus a very nice review of our revue, too, which I'll cut and paste here just as soon  as I eat something.

Good show tonight - strange audience at first but they finally got very into it.  I'll have more detail in a bit.

I didn't think I'd get much sympathy.  Having grown up in New York, with its hot and muggy summers and bitter cold winters, you'd think it would never occur to us Californians to bitch (Omigosh!  Can I say that here?)about the weather.  But we do.

One of my big shocks when I first moved out here was to see women in fur coats when the temperature got down to a frigid 50 degrees Farenheit!
