And here's the complete info about Sandy's CD:

Kritzerland is proud to present its latest release:

SANDY BAINUM – SIMPLY

Simply is the follow-up CD to Sandy Bainum’s acclaimed 2012 CD, This Christmas.

Simply is an album of some truly memorable tunes from the Great American Songbook and beyond.  From the joyous “A Cockeyed Optimist” from South Pacific and the glorious “Goodnight, My Someone” from The Music Man, to the pop hit “You and Me Against the World” and the electric “On the Other Side of the Tracks,” the songs of Simply are filled with timeless, straightforward sentiments and beautiful melodies.  Sandy wanted to make an album that reflected simple but universal emotions, whether joyous, rueful, funny, or hopeful, and this new CD captures perfectly who Sandy is as a performer.  Some of the songs are classics, some are not as well known, but all are melodic and entrancing.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles with a phenomenal 34-piece orchestra.  It was arranged and conducted by award-winning musical director Lanny Meyers and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Bruce Kimmel.

You won’t want to miss Sandy Bainum – Simply.  Her vocals are filled with warmth, heart, humor and joy, and the result is a Simply enchanting CD.

CD is $17.98 (plus shipping).  CDs are in stock and ready to ship.  We also offer a special combo price with Sandy’s Christmas CD, This Christmas, so check out that special offer.  To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Good morning.

It rained yesterday for about 5 minutes.
Caused a mud slide and shut down the freeway on ramp for my drive home.

Such is life.

And yes it's Thursday.
And yes maybe the heat is done, and fall is here.
And then there is Halloween.

Good morning, all! Last night, I slept well. I am both surprised and delighted. I can only thank Gurjeet and his physical therapy staff.

So, first thing today is my appointment at 11:00 with my doctor. I'll leave here a little after 10:00 and take the bus. I am taking time since I cannot judge at the moment my walking abilities or the bus schedule. After that, I am home and I don't know when I'll be going out again, and that depends on my health and my getting the therapy extension.

My copy of I MARRIED A WITCH arrived last week, and I'll try to watch it over the weekend.

Good morning, all.

Odd news about that mudslide, Sam, after only 5 minutes of rain.

Always loved the Hugh Martin lyric from Best Foot Forward:

And it's as slick and as hard to take as Veronica Lake.

Wonder what she thought of it when she appeared in the revival.

BK,

I watched I MARRIED A WITCH the other night and, although I thought it was okay and a pleasant way to spend 77 minutes, I thought that the film could have been much funnier and better with different leads.

Yes, Fredric March was one of our finest actors and I love much of his work, but comedy was not his forte'.  He did not have the comic touch or timing of a Cary Grant or a Fred MacMurray, which is what the role required.  And, though she was always a charming screen presence, neither did Veronica Lake.  Imagine Jean Arthur, Ginger Rogers or (were she still alive then) Carole Lombard in that part.

Don't misunderstand.  I like both of these performers, but they were miscast here and, as far as I'm concerned, lacked "chemistry".  Indeed, I understand that they did not get along during filming.

On the other hand, Robert Benchley and Cecil Kellaway were delightful.  And, for the time, the special effects were excellent.

"I Married A Witch" has been one of my favorite 1940s enchantments since I first saw it 30-plus years ago.  It was in yesterday's mail alongside "The Other", which I watched last night.

I loved "The Other" and even watched it through again with the isolated tracks.   It's sole CD incarnation was a bit disappointing inasmuchas it was incomplete.  I understood from somewhere -- notes on the jacket or a comment on the internet -- that what we got was all there was.   Happily, this has been rectified on the BD, and regardless of the source material, it sounds splendiferous.  It leads me to hope that someone, someday will issue it as a complete, stand-alone CD experience as it's one of my favorite Jerry Goldsmith scores and has been since I first saw the film in a theater.
