elmore, that Shelly Manne Li'l Abner has been on CD for ages.  I have it and love it, along with my Percy Faith version.

I'm up and have been so since nine-thirty.  Just had a visit from Terry Trotter and will now stare at my song list for an hour or so.

Good morning, all!

Last errand day here before I fly. Yipes!

TOD:
London, Scotland and the Irish countryside.

After all of my worldly travels, though our ship often docked in Dover,  I could never go into London because it was a quick turnaround day for the crew. I'd love to go for a few weeks, take in the feel of the place, and see tons of theater.

Irish countryside (and Dublin, Galway and Antrim) - it's the culture I was brought up in with my mother being a Gilligan, and no doubt the side that gave me my singing genes. I've been to Cork and Blarney (yes, kissed the stone), but again, all too swiftly. And I grew up seeing photos of the Countryside.  I need to go there... and sing in a pub with the locals.

Scotland - when I met Billy Connelly (who is Scottish and Irish),  and we talked about travels, he asked if I'd been to Scotland. I said, "No, only Ireland". He said, "Oh, you have to go to Scotland. Scotland look like Ireland thinks it looks."  :)

I watched a terrific movie the other night, SIDE EFFECTS, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Jude Law.

It's a thriller with 2-3 very surprising plot twists...and, these days, I am not easily surprised.

I'd love to visit some of the locations David Lean used for "Ryan's Daughter".

TOD:  San Francisco.

When I was doing the high-powered legal stuff for those years, we took a trip there for an acquisition,  and pretty much went from the hotel to the office for the meetings and work, and except for some nice meals, never had time to see the town, which looked great.

My sister and her daughter and her boyfriend have gone to SF several times and they've never asked me to go with them. :P I would love to go...just to say that I've gone.

The one time I went to NYC, several of us went to Greenwich Village and we walked by Stonewall Inn.  I got a picture of the plaque that was on the building, so I've been to that gay Meca. ;D

The revue is based on the songs of Newley and Bricusse, mostly together, but a handful of songs they wrote by themselves - but no songs they wrote with other partners.

I also went to bed early last night, 9:30pm is early for me, tossed and turned all night.
But, I need to get used to trying 7 or 8 hours every night, instead of this just 4,5,or 6.
Which is not working too well.  ;D

The story of my life. ::)

I've bought all 9 volumes of the MAIGRET series with Bruno Cremer on the MHz Networks label which contain all 54 episodes. I was able to sell my four French box sets which contained 40 episodes for more than I originally bought them, so ended up paying no extra.

MHz Networks present the episodes in chronological order of production which is better than the jumbled way they were presented on the French boxsets (I think they selected the best episodes first). The final 54th episode is very sad to see because by then Bruno Cremer was ill with mouth cancer (he was a heavy cigarette smoker). And apart from looking ill, his voice had to be dubbed by another actor.

It's a wonderful series of films, with great atmosphere, and I never get tired of re-seeing them.

There are too many new places I want to see to pick just one.

There are so many fabulous faraway places to see!
Such as Mexico, Sweden, Hawaii, Japan and Capri!
There are so many exciting & wonderful places!
Mountains and jungles, deserts and oases!
Pleasant as home is,
It isn't what Rome is!
So why stay there?
...

With a tip of the hat to Leslie Bricusse for "Fabulous Places" from "Dr. Dolittle".
