In honor of today's subject this video shows Mr. Bacharach teaching a group of children to sing THE WORLD IS A CIRCLE. You would think that words to his song came directly from the Koran, the Torah, and the New Testament all rolled into one.

I upgraded to Mac OS 10.9 and my life has been a hell since 9:30 waiting for the download and now I'm deleting little used mp3 files to get more space on my hard drive. It's been a tense time, but I listened to the OBC of ON A CLEAR DAY and Barbara Harris charmed all the aggravation away.

I need some food.

It must be a really slow news day when the top story of the day continues to be Julianne Hough going to a Halloween party in blackface.

DR Elmore:  In your quest for good pumpkin foodstuffs, I wonder if you've had anything from Stew Leonard's which of course isn't in the city but we can certainly get some to you.  The Pumpkin Raisin cookies, for instance, are soft and chewy and partially responsible for my current waistline.  Saw one or two other things, too, but I forget what those were.  I'll bring the cookies to the Harmonia Gardens so whoever wants to can try them.

DR Druxy,

Did you figure out THE GAME before it ended?

I didn't figure out the ending of THE GAME. In fact, I never do figure out twist endings. It always amuses me how people say they figured the twist ending of a film five minutes after it started. Like, yes - I always believe them!

I didn't figure out the ending of THE GAME. In fact, I never do figure out twist endings. It always amuses me how people say they figured the twist ending of a film five minutes after it started. Like, yes - I always believe them!

Actually, in many instances, I am able to figure out the identity of the bad guy or killer long before his/her identity is revealed.  TV is certainly easier than movies, but I have a couple of rules that I employ that simplifies the job.

1. If a "name" actor is in the cast and, early on, his is a "nothing part," chances are that, by the end of the show, he is going to be revealed as the "killer".  A role/film that comes to mind is Tom Berenger in Robert Altman's THE GINGERBREAD MAN.

2. If the cops on LAW AND ORDER, for example, are interviewing the wife or son or whomever of a murder victim and somebody else is present (e.g. friend, cousin, etc.), it's a safe bet that that other person, if not the killer, is definitely involved.  Why else whould he/she be there?  Why would the producers pay for an actor who doesn't have a story function?

The "Druxman Rule," as we call it in our house, doesn't always work, but it does 8 out of 10 times.

But, I love it when a movie or TV show surprises me, like SIDE EFFECTS or THE USUAL SUSPECTS or THE SIXTH SENSE or THE GAME or THE OTHERS.  Those are the movies that I remember.

I feel exactly the same. A perennial patsy, i am amazed with comments like  "I knew who the killer was in the first 10 minutes" and i'm thinking, I sure didn't!

One of the movies that I loved was THE GAME with Michael Douglas.

That really kept me guessing!

As any DR"S seen this movie, and if so what did you think of it?

I always though what would have happened if that character instead of falling through the skylight instead fell off the side of the building. Would the same thing have happened?

I've had the album and vocal score since just about day one, and now it's been years since I've heard it.  Must do this soon.

RE: THE SIXTH SENSE

I saw it a few times to catch everything I missed the first time, but then he started to use the same tricks in Unbreakable and Signs. By the time The Village came out I guessed the twist ending without seeing it. A friend saw it and he confirmed that I was right.

i have not seen one of his movies since Signs. I really think he was a one trick pony.

From DR Ginny, a long time ago:

Click on Quote in a message where someone has done it and copy and paste the code onto a Word document, or as I've done on my Mac, onto a Stickie.  When you want to do something similar, just copy and paste the code you've saved, and replace the URL with the one you
want to link to.  Between the bracketed b & /b put in the words you want to appear in your message.

want to link to.  Between the bracketed b & /b put in the words you want to appear in your message.

The thing about this new version of the board is that it automatically makes the words be the link in the "Post reply" screen.  If you quote a message and then preview it so that you get to the "Post reply" screen that has all the options, click on the red "A" box under the "Change Color" drop-down box and then the message box will shows all the codes that are used for your message.

Essentially, do this without any spaces within each set of brackets (I used the bold codes just to highlight the link...it's completely optional):

[ url = http://www.haineshisway.com/ ][ b ]HainesHisWay[ /b ][ /url]

and this is what you'll get:

HainesHisWay

Mike, I'll PM this to you, too. :)

a very very late ASK BK

You mentioned that the new BLU RAY release of OLIVER! had some copies autographed by Shani Wallis. I see that it will be up for pre-order in a couple of weeks.

How does one get an autographed copy?

I think I indicated that I would love an autograph.  If I remember correctly, we have to order our own copy of the Blu-ray and you'd just get the autographed sleeve...is that correct, BK?

He disliked the Herbert songs and ignored EILEEN, so his review for DEAREST ENEMY is, I suppose, a step up!
