Thanks, DR ChasSmith, for your detailed response on the generator. Exactly the kind of information I was interested in finding out about. So great that you have done all the research!

My niece went into labor on her own, just before they were going to induce.  The latest update is they expect the baby around 3:00. :)

I am also a Tuesday baby and my sister's son is celebrating his birthday today.

Jane, Congrats to your niece and Happy Birthday to your nephew!

Thank you.  I might have to wait until my brother gets home to receive the news.  He headed to the hospital awhile ago to beat the traffic and I don't expect him back for a long while.  If I'm lucky his ex wife will send email from her phone.

After all of today's tsuris, I may avoid the computer completely tomorrow.  There are several folk I do not wish to deal with at present.

Maybe a day off will be good for you.

Thanks, DR ChasSmith, for your detailed response on the generator. Exactly the kind of information I was interested in finding out about. So great that you have done all the research!

I've had some very good help, starting with an electrician who not only lives around the corner and is one of the best in town, but who has gotten to know me and my interests a bit through several lesser jobs -- so it's just a bit more than "just another job".

BK might even be amused to know that when I posted a couple of lines on the HTF referring to my plans to install a generator, as opposed to getting a portable like so many do, I got a note from Robert Harris offering several do's and don't's based on his own experience.  He's on his second one, having not had proper guidance on the first.  His is a step up from mine, a 22kw on which he runs the whole house -- EXCEPT for his home theater -- which in his case is bound to be a lot of home theater, with the main power-suckers being some huge amps for some incredible speakers.  And I'm sure he's got a great house besides.  But 22kw handles everything except the "hobby" just fine.

Of course I appreciated that more than I can say.  It's rather like a gift falling out of the sky.

I've had a fun time clearing years of junk out of the shed.

Reminds me of the great quote from "Cold Comfort Farm": "I saw something nasty in the woodshed!"

All manner of good thoughts and vibes for DR Elmore.

And thanks for a great Christmas present idea for a friend of mine who's a Jane Austen freak.

Mares eat oats

And does eat oats

And little lambs eat ivy.

A kid'll eat ivy, too.

Wouldn't you?

Good morning, all (where it is still morning.. it is here  :) ),

LOVED the video, BK. How adorable is that girl?!! And loved the set-up patter too. Perfect!
I also just saw a video on Facebook of Jenna's "Suddenly it Happens" that her mom posted. I am so sorry I could not be there to see and hear it all.

The good news on Sunday's long day of rehearsal and ensuing Ovation Awards show is that WE WON! Our cast of PARADE won the Best Acting Ensemble for a Musical, and the Production won, as well as our lead and supporting actors, Jeff Skowron and Rufus Bonds, Jr. It was one of those times when you knew something magical was happening, but to have it honored like that was is just the icing on the upside down cake.  :D

Other than that, I got nuthin'  :P

Congrats, ryacko and cast of PARADE!!

Thank you so much, George!  :)

I never minded purchasing hard covers I wanted to read.  It is one thing to pay for something you can look at and hold in your hands than for something on a hand held device.  With long waits at the library, if a book a new book is available, or a high price for an eBook I rarely read recently published books.  I just received a reminder of this fact from Goodreads.  I have the page to vote for my favorite books of 2013.  I don't know what criteria Goodreads uses for their top choices (there is a write in option), however I have only read 2 of the books listed.  I have several of them on my library hold list and others on my wish list.  I plan to add a few more to the wish list.

Are your waits for hardcovers at the library as long as for e-books?  I read mostly recent books. I"m sure way more than half are 2013.

Not usually and to save money even the library has paperbacks, nice ones.  My book group is reading "The Little Prince" next month and I have the library paperback copy.

I read both ebooks and real books.  There are some books I want to own and some books I know my parents will want to read, so I buy the hard or soft cover of those books.  I read an ebook if it's something I want to read but don't care to own it.

I love my Nook.  BN has lots of discounts and lots of good books that are very cheap.  Many of them I never would have purchased at full price, but took a chance on since they were discounted. Most of the time I'm glad I did

DR Cilla you reminded me to check the B & N $2.99 and under page.  I only check it now to see if there is something in there I know I want.  I have too many books to read as it is and spend too much time searching for books to read.  I have found a lot of gems through my library and Goodreads is an excellent source for me.

I was supposed to take all three cats in for shots today, but as I came home to get them, the rain turned to sleet.  Since the vet is about 10 miles away, I called and rescheduled.  I wasn't going to take them out in that mess.
