Such a miserable day, weather-wise.  Cold and rainy.  We may have a little snow tomorrow evening.

The sun finally reappeared here today, but it was still bittter cold in the wind. But thankfully the threat of frost over the next couple of days has been lifted (I guess I want to believe the weather forecasters.)

Rob and Mary Linda brought dinner from The Jug after their eye appointments and stayed long enough for their drops to wear off.  Lauren stopped by to pick up some moving boxes they'd brought for her.  ML left with a 12.5 pound turkey to cook with gluten-free stuffing.  Our turkey is 12.25 pounds.

Would you believe that our microwave blew today?

Two days before Thanksgiving.

Larry, so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I'm glad the postman returned. Did you show him how lame you are?   ;)

Unfortunately, I do believe that sometimes people have to be reminded that not everyone can get around easily, regardless of what the rules are.

Good for you!

Diary of a Country Priest

I always liked DIARY OF A COUNTRY PRIEST, too. I saw it in a college film class. I think I was one of very few who did like it. Perhaps this is not the sort of film that draws students to film classes. For those who haven't seen it, it is quite slooooww. And not a single car chase.

If you pause the video at the very end you can see his family members in the audience:  my brother on the right in red, my niece next to him,( slightly behind him), Patrick's wife ( in red with her black shirt tied in front) and yours truly to her right.

It is nice to see you and your family.  I with Patrick great success!

I needed to go to Trader Joe's today and arranged my day to go early this morning. I went to one of the larger ones, where parking isn't so congested, only to find about half of the parking lot unavailable due to some tree trimming. Bad timing on someone's part! I lucked out and found a parking space, but I can only imagine the chaos a couple hours later.

Druxy, I had an electric stove blow up while I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner one year.

That is far worse.

One Christmas at Bryan's in Portland the power went out.  Fortunately the oven was nice and hot and the food in it.  It just took a little longer to finish cooking and it was fine.

I have a hair appointment tomorrow and usually stop on the way over to purchase a bag of muffins for my hairdresser, who likes to munch. Realizing that I should have picked up something for him this morning at Trader Joe's to avoid day-before-Thanksgiving crowds, I drove to the nearby Ralph's supermarket. The place was practically empty. I didn't even have to wait in line. Something is terribly wrong here!

Well, something nice happened: my doorbell rang and it was the postman who did not leave the package earlier. He found he had missed something on my block and figured he would see if I was home as well.  I thanked him profusely. Isuspect he decided I was raving mad as he ran for the elevator.

That was very nice of your postman!

I've just started watching QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY. I'd heard of it, but knew nothing. It's really fun! The interior designer does AMAZING things and the straight guys have been awfully good sports. I look forward to more of it. Between that and MIRANDA I may stay sane through the holidays.

Too bad you live so far away.  When I moved into my current place, I had a countertop microwave oven, but my place had an existing one above the range/oven.  I've had it in my garage since (more than seven years, now).  Last year, my theater group was having a group yard sale and someone donated a small microwave oven.  It didn't sell, so I kept it (and a few other things) for the next yard sale...which hasn't happened, yet.  So now I have three, count 'em, THREE microwave ovens and two are just sitting there in my garage not being used. :-\

My nephew Patrick's new video for next year's American Ninja Warriors:

That's a great video!  And here you all are:

I wish I had waited for DR George to capture the photo.  Pausing took multiple attempts.  For some reason it either didn't pause or jumped to the beginning of the video.
