I very much dislike "revisionist" history movies like Lee Daniels' The Butler....and I particularly am not interested in seeing a movie that tells me that one black butler was the one who raised the consciousness of every president he served under and was responsible for changing the course of history and policy.

It doesn't bother me so much in a film like Saving Mr Banks - because it's not world changing that P L Travers really hated the movie version of Mary Poppins....

ChasSmith, what did you think of Tokyo Story?

Loved it!  Love both.  Ozu is definitely working for me.  Any suggestions on which should be my third?

I loved all of those seasonal movies and I can't remember all of the titles. The one with Summer and another with Autumn. Good Morning is a charming comedy.

DR BK,

I thought one of the Higlights of 2013 was me joining HHW.  LOL.

Also I admire how ambitious you are.  You really did accomplish a lot in 2013.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :) :) :)

I also enjoyed reading about all of MR BK's activities during the past year....most entertaining.  It made me tired just to read about all he has done!

TOD:

DVD: The Ref, Kiki and Herb at the Knitting Factory (their Christmas story is a real wopper!)

CD: Christmas CDs, including Bobby Darin, the Andrews Sisters, the Drifters, Mel Torme, Maureen McGovern

Car CD: The Sharper the Cut, the Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn (has anyone here read this food memoir?)

I read it a while back. As someone who vastly prefers watching Julia Child to any contemporary food show, I enjoyed the descriptions of the "old-school" personalities and techniques. The memoir portion was less memorable, and I didn't really get a feel (or care much, quite frankly) for the character of the narrator, probably because her life to that point really wasn't all that astonishing.

And I am home from City Center! My boy Joshie is ready to head to Vermont tomorrow morning, and I am happy to have Act One turned in.

Walking was very tiring today. I need a nap.

Well, it has finally started snowing here.  I was expecting it last night, but it just really started coming down in the last half hour.

It's mostly drizzling now...fortunately. ;)
