I enjoyed reading the various reports on "The Do", looking at the photos and watching the videos.

I also enjoyed reading the various posts on DR's celebrations.  Keith made a nice dinner for us and Craig called.  We had a nice long chat with him.  Bryan was sleeping during the day and is working the night shift again.

David Suchet is a wonderful Poirot. I guessed the killer in "Dumb Witness" and I am off to bed.  I want to get to the laundry early, because I need to vacuum and mop the floors before I can put the laundry away.

Good evening, all.

Had a great day, capped with one of the most wonderful Christmas Day Movie Excursions ever -- SAVING MR. BANKS.  I'm going to return to see it again while it's playing at the theater.  What a wonderful thing it is, in so many ways.  That, and the whole rediscovery of MARY POPPINS, has shaped up to be one of the major rewards of this season.

Wow!  What a wonderful gift you have received, DR Elmore!  That's amazing and, well, wonderful.  Bring on those Region Bs!  I would imagine it's set up for region-free DVD playing as well as Blu-ray?  Maybe you had that before, but man, you are going to love this.

I discovered that I completely messed up on one gift .

I thought I had set up a gift card to be sent electronically (the first time I have ever tried this) so it would be delivered late on Christmas Eve but apparently I  had hit "save" rather than "send" and it was still pending

I am royally  peeved at myself as I was quite anxious for the recipient to be surprised with it this morning - ah well it is on its way now

Sorry to have been so E & T I was woefully behind in my Christmas preparations

I have not sent out any cards this year and I still needed to buy presents and of course nothing was wrapped

At our age, we can simply claim to be confused by the technology. That seems to satisfy people I know.

Today turned out to be a wonderful day.  There had been no fighting that I could notice and the drinking during the day seemed under control.  The food was great and very filling!  A very enjoyable Christmas.

The Vixter , bless her heart, did my grocery shopping  for Christmas dinner and she did a wonderful job

We had a  standing beef rib roast, steamed fingerling and red skinned  potatoes, steamed broccoli, mushrooma and sweet onion which had been browned in butter then slowly simmered in a beef stock/sherry mixture for hours

Back from Milla's open house, the Milla of this Kritzerland album
http://kritzerland.com/milla.htm

where people who stopped by included Kritzerland's own Peter Filichia (whose play I loved last Saturday), Broadway by the Year's Barbara and Scott Siegel, Mario Fratti (who i've never met before and who is also really delightful).  Also, Milla's director on the production of THE CRUCIBLE she just did (Michael Ormond, who happened to have worked with Skip and me and our director at NYMF) and it sounds like he'll be helping me by staging an upcoming project.

Great news, FJL.

Had a lovely day at Bonnie's house with her husband and sister. A surprise visit from my old cubicle mate at the newspaper made everything seem a little brighter.

We had a three-meat plate (chicken, brisket and ham), which was humorous and tasted great. Only the brisket was actually smoked, but it made everything seem more barbecue-like.

We watched "Christmas in Connecticut" and "The Bishop's Wife." Bonnie laughted a little too hard when Monty Woolley said something about telling his publisher for 25 years that he would have his manuscript finished by spring. I hope we get ours finished sooner than that.

Back from the party, which was, as always, a lot of fun with great food.  Spent quite a bit of time with David Wechter and his kids.  I stayed completely away from the stuffing and sweet potatoes, and confined myself mostly to turkey and ham, but did have two nice-sized helpings of Cissy's kugel, which was the best it's ever been.  And I was super good in terms of desserts - just a sliver (and I mean sliver) of chocolate cherry bundt cake, a tiny bit of trifle (made with Cool Whip, so lower in calories), literally one tiny bite of a cobbler and one tiny cookie thing.  So, for me, I didn't gorge as I usually do, although I certainly feel like I did.

Last night DR George mentioned receiving See's fudge. I've never tried their fudge. I guess I'll have to rectify that. I did give a gift of See's truffles this year and was told they were outstanding. I'm trying to really reduce the sugar in my diet, so I don't need any new favorite sweets!

Enjoy the fudge, George. I'm sure it's good.
(A report and photos wouldn't go amiss.)

Thanks!  I can't find my camera, but here's a picture from See's catalog:

That the singer needs a director, pronto.  All that nervous energy being poured into the wrong place.

Ask BK:   In the picture with you, Terri White, and the other two women, what is the blue thing you're holding in your hand?

Have you ever seen Il Volo?  It's a trio of two young tenors and a baritone and they performed with Barbra Streisand on her recent "Back to Brooklyn" concert.  One of the guys switches his microphone CONSTANTLY!  I mean it can be as much as every other word.  It's realllllly annoying.  And I remember seeing them when they first hit it big in the US a couple of years ago and he was doing that then.  You'd think somebody would've mentioned it...anyone.
