What does that mean -- cancerous but benign?

In common usage (i.e., everyone but really pedantic oncologists), it means that you've got an abnormal but contained mass of cells growing someplace, as opposed to a malignant growth that can invade neighboring cells and directly disrupt organ function. Technically speaking, doctors only classify the malignant types as "cancerous" growths. (cue my parents' wailing "see? You could've been a doctor after all!")

You explained it better than I would have. Tumors can be either malignant or benign. Some "tumors" turn out to be cysts. It's the malignancies that need to be caught early and often require radiation or chemo. Benign tumors can cause problems, such as pressing against other organs or tissues and are usually removed, but are in a different category than a malignancy.

I was wondering what are ANY DR"S favorite MOVIES AND WHY???

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (the original version, not the Directors Cut or the Special Edition)  It had just enough magic, and laughter, and awe to make it like no other film I had ever seen.

I have the Blu-ray where you can choose to watch each of the three different versions without having to change discs.  This poster that comes in the set shows the differences:

I'll be sure and buy that version.

It's also available on a 3-disc DVD set.

I have nothing of interest to say that is gossipy.

Oh yeah, what about Kaye Ballard?

I have several DVD's from the Library.

They are:

THE WEIGHT OF WATER
MR BROOKS
UNDER SUSPICION
THE TERMINAL
WONDER BOYS
THIS IS THE END
THE ARTIST
MALICE
THE JANE AUSTINE BOOK CLUB ( I have already seen it but want to see again)
MILDRED PIERCE (The HBO one with Kate Winslet)
Have any DR's seen any of these movies  and read this book?

I was impressed with both the original and the remake of MILDRED PIERCE. It's no surprise that I liked the original, but I wasn't at all sure I'd like the remake. It's quite a different film from the original, but a good one in its own way.

Seeing how both DR Sandra and Mae-Ling are now vegetarians, I will be making vegetable soup for tonight.

I guess boy soup is out, then.      ;)

I'd love to TCB. I thought I bought enough to take a batch and have a second one, but it turns out that I had to do a double batch to make it the size I wanted, so, alas! I don't have enough to bring one to you on the way to the party

Oh.  Okay.  Maybe next time?

I wish I could stop by.....I'd skip the party for that :)

You wouldn't make it before the ball drops.

Dr Jane was speaking to us from the future - I wonder how she is enjoying 2014

Maybe she could give us the Lotto numbers!

LOL. Very good, Tom.

Time for me to get dressed and go to the party.  I'll stop in when I get home, probably very shortly after midnight.  We usually make it that long an then the party is over.

We went to Church and then went to APPLEBEES.

The server was excellent and well as the food.

It is very cold here.  I just want to relax and watch THE ARTIST.
My hubby however wants to watch The Twilight Zone Marathon.

I wouldn't say I am a New Year's grinch, but I certainly don't think of it as a time to celebrate.  For me it means the end of another year, and we are all another year older.  I know that is a matter of the glass being half full or half empty, but that is how I look at it.  So, I stay home, I go to bed early, and I hope and pray that the fireworks at midnight don't terrify Nicky.

I was amazed when I ordered Ms Steisand's new effort that Britain's Got Talent's Charlotte and Jonathan's second CD was available on Amazon for $24.97, but was temporarily sold out.  Ms Streisand's new effort has a CD and a DVD, but was selling for $18.97. WTF!

New Year's Rockin Eve report:   Enrique Iglesias' growth of beard is probably meant to be inflammatory, but it made him look like a homeless person.  Someone call the makeup department.
