A 1776 reference...Letter Tied to Fight for Independence Is Found in Museum’s Attic (the bold section is my emphasis):

Quote
Until Ms. Gruchow found it, only the final, printed version from July 1775 had been known to exist. She consulted with Michael D. Hattem, a teaching fellow and research assistant on The Papers of Benjamin Franklin at Yale. He analyzed the handwriting on the yellowed pages of the manuscript and did textual analysis that led to an unexpected conclusion: The document was written by Robert R. Livingston, a prominent New York jurist who had been on the fence about whether to support independence for the colonies.

The following year, Congress tapped Livingston to draft the Declaration of Independence along with Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Roger Sherman.
Livingston went on to swear in Washington as the first president. Other historians who have reviewed the document Ms. Gruchow found say her discovery explains why he was chosen. It could also change the perception of Livingston’s role in the push for independence because it had always been assumed that the document at the mansion was the work of another prominent colonial figure, Richard Henry Lee of Virginia.

Hoo Ray  New York!  take THAT Virginny!

then off to Panera where I snagged the comfy chair  right in front of the fireplace and  treated myself to  steel cut oatmeal with pecans, strawberries and cinnamon  brown sugar topping  and then  just to be completely sure I had a good layer of fat to stave off the cold I had a mug of hot chocolate made with steamed milk, and topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce

YUM!!!

The work load is really scarily light at the moment  all of us on the office strived to get everything done for tomorrow and  Monday and succeeded

we  (well mostly me) explained to the boss that since 2 of us can remote in to our emails and there was nothing pressing that needed to be done tomorrow we had no intention of coming u in  if the weather is as bad a predicted

The same is true for me right now....the scarily light part.  Glad you are prepared to stay home if the weather is bad

I wish we had more than a inch of snow on the ground.  We're over 9 inches below normal and I haven't used my snowblower once

As if having a great rehearsal with the most talented kids wasn't candy enough, I then spent an hour with Richard Sherman polishing the song we've written together - what fun! I don't really collaborate as a songwriter, but this was just too irresistible and the back-and-forth with Richard was just so exhilarating. And the song is really catchy and positive - that was what I ultimately wanted in the lyric I gave him and he added a few things, I added a few more, and he did a wonderful Sherman tune, which we then finessed together.

Almost all our singers are getting over colds so I'm loading up on Cold-eez and Airborne just to be safe.  Must now go eat something before I fall over.

Popping in from the blizzard city of Portland, Maine to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!

The trip here took 26 hours: one delayed flight, a 5 hour airport wait, then a cancelled connection causing a hotel stay in Newark (dear diary), had me landing in time for first rehearsal with next to no sleep. Yesterday was a blessed catch up day, where I was mostly walking comatose. And now it's minus 3 degrees and already about 8 inches of snow today. Other than that, everything's great!  :P

Back to study here. I hope everyone's having a warm and happy first week of the new year.

BREAKING NEWS...

This just in:

Scientists find that dogs poop aligned to the earth's magnetic fields...

Is that why dogs turn around several times before settling? They're trying to point in the right direction?

And I am home from physical therapy and a trip to the pharmacy for my monthly meds. I will have some lunch and then work on Trumpet 4.

I was wondering how Trumpet 4 is doing.

Back to the office today after over a month away.

9 more years!!!

Congrats!  I, of course, have more than 20 left...and I have 25 in!

However, I do have less than 9 years on my mortgage! :D

That's actually rather impressive (the mortgage). Is it a 15-year?

Since I had a holiday gift card, I decided to use it to buy a Roku 3.  Now I have my very own, brand new Roku 3 sitting next to be desk.  I have not the slightest idea what to do with it.

I headed homeward and since it was too early to go to work (and I knew if I went home I would fall back asleep)  I headed to the Panera down the road from my office for breakfast  on the way OI passed a grocery so stopped in to  to my legal duty and buy bread - I was negligent in  that I did not buy any  milk but since I already had a huge amount at home I hope the blizzard police will let me off with a warning

What a good storm shopper! (We won't tell anyone about the milk.)

Central Park.

I quite like Portland, Maine. The Maine coast has such rugged beauty. The town's a bit funky, but also charming. Granted, mine was a summer trip. Lots of good restaurants and a good art museum.

I hope this visit is a good one and you're able to enjoy the city a bit.
