Vixmom, you made that hot caramel macchiato I assume. You didn't go out to Dunkin' just to buy one, did you?
sorry I have been lost in the screenplay -  no I di not got o Dunkin (although there is one only a short walk away) I received a free sample of gevalia caramel macchiato for the keurig in the mail yesterday -  it was quite nice

I completely ignored my alarm at 6:30 and again at 7 but di respond to my boss's text message at 7 :15 advising  that we were closing the office "for now" and he would let me know if I was needed to come in "later"

So I gave him an update of the day's jobs and Monday's jobs and promised to remote in for my emails so I am pretty sure that no "later" will be necessary

That's a nice surprise! Vibes you can stay home all day!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is freezing here again. -30C with windchill. It's even cold inside!

It is supposed to warm up on Sunday. So we can have a nice big snowstorm that night (right in time for the kids to go back to school on Monday morning after Christmas break).

Good morning, all.

Got to sleep in till nine this morning, which was wonderful.  It would have been even more peaceful without the stupid dream (about a Jacques Tati DVD) that wouldn't let me move on.  But, a good sleep.  A fine sleep.  The sleep I needed.

Coffee!

I wonder if DR Elmore has figured out yet that he actually slipped through a Jack Finney time warp during the night, and it's 1907 out there.

DRs Ben and vixmom should enjoy their snow day and stay cozy at home.

I see the neighbor has plowed.  I don't even know yet how much we got, but it's already sounding to me like NYC and LI and other points south got more!  I guess it's time to look at the local rag and see what they say we got.  I ain't going out there for a while.  I think the storm is just past us, but I want to KNOW it's outta here before I venture out to start cleaning.

I don't think my car has been properly prepared for these severe winter conditions. It has basically been at zero or below for the past week, and the car has not started for the past 4 or 5 days. May need a new battery. I am hoping that they don't declare a snow emergency, which would require moving the car - which ain't happening at the moment. Eventually I will call AAA.

There's a side of me that suspected I might have, but I'm not in the Dakota, and I don't know if my building was built in 1913 so I can return there. Isn't the book 1975 to 1875? It's a wonderful novel!

TOD

Last night, the remarkable DESK SET -- my remarkable discovery, to date, of 2014!

And Tati's TRAFIC (hence, the annoying dream) which I had seen but once before, and it was the perfect thing.  I loved every last thing about it.  People say it's a come-down from the major ones that preceded it, especially from the grandeur and complexity of PLAY TIME.  I say balderdash.  (Oh my.  Do I really say balderdash?  That might get me into trouble if I let one go in public, so maybe I'd better rein that one in.)  Of course it can't touch something on the scale of PLAY TIME, and yes he does rely on a few ideas from before, but it's a wonderful follow-up and I found myself laughing out loud almost uncontrollably in a few places.  You've got to go back to these after a while.  They just get better and better.

As for today, and this evening ... I don't know yet but I will be sure to report back.

I don't remember the dates, and yes, it's a novel I've meant to return to for years.  I've gone WAY the hell too long since my last reading of it.

And I've never yet read the sequel he wrote years later.  But I have it all here at the ready.

Friday morning greetings!  Sunny and cold here in SW Ohio.  I'd planned to stay in all day, but woke up with a subconjunctival hemorrhage in my left eye.  My eye doctor wants to take a look, so we'll venture up there in a couple of hours.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the shot of Novocaine that I had below that eye yesterday...

You must stop these desperate bids for attention, DR Ginny!

On a more serious note, how will the weather be for your drive? Is it far?

did you have a block heater installed?  My Canadian relatives all have block heaters in their cars and have them plugged in or else the battery is too cold to start

DR Elmore, the traffic seems to be moving fine on Central Ave., which I can see from here at my desk.  The eye doctor is at Breiel & Rosedale, so we don't have to go far.

Believe me, I could have done without this development.  But it's a good thing we're going to that office, because I also suspect my glasses frames are about to snap.  I've had them almost 5 years, so it's probably time for new ones.

Despite the lack of wintery weather here in Salem, Oregon 97301, I was still very much wanting to stay curled up in bed this morning.

Alas, one must go out and make a living.

Oh my, DR Ginny!  But I'm sure all will be well.  Those things can happen to anyone.

Nevertheless, Oy!

I had my first one last summer.  Woke up one morning and had no idea anything was amiss till I looked in the mirror and saw that about a quarter of the white of one eye was bright red.  Mine cleared up in 24 hours, but I understand some of them can take days.

LOL, DR MBarnum!  No, it's not quite that bad.

And don't feel guilty about your weather - enjoy it!

Yeah, DR ChasSmith, it looks way worse than it is and I didn't know about it until I looked in the mirror.

Thanks, DR vixmom. That would be an ideal solution, except that I only have street parking available, so it's not really practical to run an extension cord across the lawn and the sidewalk.    :-\
