Good morning, all! It is way too hot in the apartment, and I slept badly with much tossing to and fro and fro and to. As soon as I was out of bed, I turned off the radiator.

Yesterday was one of the first really good days I've had in a long, long time. I had a delightful lunch with Robert Kimball whom I'd not seen in several years. After lunch, I hobbled down 41s Street to 8th Avenue, and there was a 104 bus waiting to take me home. My newlywed friends Cathie and Alice boarded the bus at Lincoln Center, and I hadn't sen ten in a couple of years. They were heading home from a Metropolitan Opera dress rehearsal, so we had a lovely chat.

I got home, puttered about, went to market and tidied up a bit. Around 8:30 I got a wonderful phone call from Kim Criswell, and we moaned about our 2013 travails, laughed about ourselves and our friends, and two hours later we said goodnight to each other. It was a day of small pleasures where nothing went wrong, and we all need plenty of days like that to get over the really horrid and irritating ones that come far too often.

So, after breakfast, I have small things to accomplish: a really good vacuum of the apartment, throwing all the accumulated papers and scores into a carton and off the chairs. DR Ben and Anthony are coming to vsit, and I'm hoping that they, who are much more savvy than I in electronics, can help me with my new Blu-Ray player. I want to be sure it's working. If all goes well, I will see if my friends would like my non-regional player and, if so, send it to a good home in Chelsea.

DR cillaliz, good news about the tree. During one of my Goodspeed jobs, either 1998 or 2004, following a hug storm, a tree fell outside the building where I was working and took down the power lines. It took a crew several hours to remove the fallen object and restore power. You made a wise decision.

DR KevinH, I like the idea of an early Feb mini-HHW assemblage during LITTLE ME.

I am off shortly.
One of the members of our congregation presented me with 3 dozen brand new blankets on Sunday

And the ladies knitting circle have made more than a hundred knitted hats . So I am going to pick them up and drop them by one of the homeless drop in shelters down at 30th street
