Don't know if it was my worst GI problem, but certainly my most memorable. While reading the haftorah (for the goyim in the audience: selection from the prophetic section of the bible, read after the weekly biblical portion) at my bar mitzvah, I suddenly got woozy. Managed to finish off the reading and the blessings afterwards, then made a beeline to make my offering to the porcelain gods.

I am so sorry to hear your account of the food poisoning and to know you've been dealing with that kind of awfulness for days now. Get completely well and soon!

I had one horrific bout of food poisoning on tour many years back. I made the mistake of eating Boston Scrod in Pittsburgh between shows. I got through the evening show, but as I packed to fly to Nashville the next day, it was a heave-ho night...all night. I bought something from the hotel pharmacy the next morning to settle my stomach for the flight. By the time I got to the Nashville hotel, I had a 103 fever and they brought in a doctor. I was out of the show for 3 days, but I swore it took me weeks to rid my body of the toxins. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Have a brilliant show and may the day heal all that ails you!!

Poor BK, food poisoning is so horrible. Can't recall the last time I went through that. At least not the full fledges throwing up and stomach pain version.

Today at physical therapy, i had my first walking lessons on the treadmill and on the carpet. The goal is to get me off my cane, back on balance, and walking properly, not lurching about like Quasimodo.

Been up since nine-thirty and getting the plumbers settled in for their work. I'm still pretty queasy - in fact, more than yesterday it seems to me. Hoping it abates soon. Kay Cole called and is canceling her performance tonight - she's having bad tummy issues, but I told her to see if she could get past it and that I'd call in the afternoon - would hate to lose her.

Back in my military days as an instructor of Journalism at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN, I would teach three or four 12-week classes of 18-24 students and then get a break for a couple of weeks in between classes. A new class started every three weeks or so, so there were always new people with new germs being spread around the school.

Many's the night I would go to bed feeling fine and then awaken with what felt like an explosion going off in my stomach.

I would be pretty much tied to the porcelain throne the rest of the night with detours into the bathtub for all the stuff that couldn't come out one way would come up the other.

I never associated any of that with food poisoning but rather with exposure to so many different people from different places touching everything I touched and breathing all the same air I breathed.

I have had "a touch" of food poisoning, but it never compared to those special school nights when battles royale would go off inside me.

I did not watch the HFPA awards show last night. It didn't interest me, sadly, and I wanted to watch "Downton Abbey."

Reviewing the awards list today, I realize I'd only have enjoyed Cate Blanchett's win. NONE of the TV wins were of interest to me. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was watched twice and given up for lack of originality and interesting performances. Adam Samberg was my idea of a headache-inducing leading man.

Oh, look! The HFPA has rewarded all their efforts.

While I am enjoying "Downton Abbey", I have to say I'm not wild about the story arc and some of the characters. Last night's goings-on were weird to the extreme. And not a little manipulative, story-line wise.

Such a tough call for a performer who has a real following. Do you go on and not disappoint people who want so much to see them on the one hand? But then the performer knows they're not at their best and as much as it's explained that the person is ill but performing anyway - snarky folks go on the net and say so-and-so doesn't have "it" any more, and sometimes people even surreptitiously record those performances while ill because that's how people just behave.

I don;t think that's pessimistic, just being realistic.
