First, let me say how lovely I found Lady Mary's gown, the very dark brown that she wears in the early scenes. I'd like to see more of that sort of thing--updated, of course--at gown-worthy events, such as the Golden Globes. Call me old-fashioned, but I do miss elegance and fine fabrics.

I was at the time just working part time as I had just started back to work after the chemo/radiation ordeal and recovery . I was still not able to eat much by mouth and was still relying on the feeding tube for most of my nourishment

Since I was also then very thin I had been advised to drink and eat high protein and high calorie liquids

Re "the incident" from episode 2 of DOWNTON ABBEY, I suspect that happened quite often. IMO, the scenes were handled well, with sensitivity and not graphically. PBS.com has an interview with both the actress involved and with Julian Fellowes about it.

the pain began to be unbearable - he called the GI Dr and he told us to come right down and rushed me in ahead of a waiting room full of patients

the doctor took a look at me and insisted I go immediately to the emergency room (the hospital is actually directly across the street from his office) and he called ahead to tell them to let me right in

When I came to I was sitting in a wheel chair and Vixdad was there giving my insurance information and medical history while people were taking my blood pressure and temperature

That day and night I experienced the worst pain I ever had in my life they gave me Demoral and there was no change in the pain level

They carted me off for scans and xrays they took blood and histories and finally the attending said it was acute gall bladder attack and that I would have to have it out

He told me that because of the feeding tube he might not be able to perform the surgery lathroscopically; I told him that he could go in through my foot if he could just get the damn gall bladder out
