Tomorrow afternoon Paul and I are planning to see Dallas Buyers Club.   I was going to go to movies all weekend, but haven't felt like it

I did feel up to making rice krispie bars for the first time in years.  Who knew that the recipe is all microwave now.  1/2 the fun used to be making sure you didn't burn the butter/marshmallow mixture on the stove.   The are good

And that made me think.  How old would someone be to have grown up in a world that always had microwaves?  I can't imagine that.

DR Jane, I'd hoped to have heard from them by now, but they were talking about going to the grocery and maybe they decided to do that on the way home.  It seemed to me that the roads were in better shape after we ate than they'd been before.

I can't find the remote to my roku....arg.   I started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix.  I read the book and liked it better, but it's interesting to watch

I can see doing that on the way so you don't have to go back out.

I had no idea, I have however been making them in the microwave ever since I got my first microwave.  I think that was when Craig was still in pre-school. ;D

I used to make double batches of mac and cheese and freeze an uncooked portion for a future date.  I had forgotten to take out the dish from the freezer and it was almost dinner time.  My neighbor said to thaw it in her microwave.  Within days I had my first microwave.

No SAG spoiler, just about a presenter, not about an award:

Was Emma Thompson acting a little goofy, or was she just a little drunk when she presented?

Re Rita Moreno's upcoming speech.  Will she live up to the sort-of famous quip:

Ms. Moreno has never missed an opportunity to complain about her great good fortune.

When Richard and I got married I moved into the house he already owned.  It had the appliances left by the previous owners.  I was a pretty accomplished cook and was dismayed that I was burning a lot of things in the oven.  We called a repairman who tested the oven and determined the thermostat was shot - whew!  The stove was too old to get replacement parts, so we bought a new one with a built-in microwave.  That was 33 years ago.

Tonight is the SAG awards. We don't get TBS in Canada. But Global is showing it, but only tomorrow night.  I thought that the awards were on tomorrow since i saw them in the tv listings. I guess I will just have to try not to see the winners.

I couldn't understand why there was no E! red carpet. But now when I look in my tv's guide I see they are on today (which makes sense now).

I set my DVR to record this.  It's going to start in about 10 minutes.  I have to get ready now to usher for Turtle Island Quartet with Nellie McKay.  I'll watch them tonight.  Tomorrow, I'm ushering again, so I'd better not get my shirt dirty...I only have one clean white shirt I don't have time to wash another one, or this one again.

Be back later!

DR George, I can't remember if i thanked you for the Kennedy Center Honors! I am a mess these days.

I've done eight pages today - and that's a good day's writing.  Now I can have a leisurely meal, come home and relax, although I may go ahead and do one more page, just to finish the chapter.

Now I have eaten way too many rice krispie bars for one day.  At least I didn't put chocolate on it

I don't like them with chocolate.  I do use extra marshmallows.  Last time I made them was a long while ago for my book group.  Everyone laughed in surprise and teased me and then ate them all up.

Think I'll go upstairs after the SAG awards and watch some more Orange is the New Black episodes.  I still can't find the remote, but I can stream it through the blu-ray player upstairs

When microwaves came out my mom wouldn't get one because she didn't want to get radiation.   Actually up until about 5 years ago, she would yell if you stood in front of the microwave when it was on because you might get radiated
