Speaking of old friends, I am meeting an old friend for dinner this evening (early).  We met at college back in 1968.  We both worked at the college station.  After college, I rented a room from him back in the mid Seventies.  We then lost contact for the next 33 years.

Watching the movie Thouroughy Modern Millie for the first time.

I prefer the stage version over the movie.

Rob and Mary Linda came for dinner and now we're watching Michigan/Michigan State basketball.  ML and I are rooting for different teams...

I was just driving on a one lane street. And the guy behind me was driving so close to me which I absolutely hate. He decided to speed up and pass me. I don't get why people feel the need to do this. But I let him pass so I wouldn't have to worry about him banging into me.  It had snowed a bit and the roads were slick. But if he wants to zoom ahead let him.

Unfortunately when he passed me all kinds of gunk sprayed up from the street and covered my front and size window. Yuck! :(
Too bad the gunk didn't splash covering his car.

ML wouldn't let him wear his Michigan hat to the grocery store today.  He really doesn't care.

Watching a wonderful Carlos Saura film called "Fados" about the Portuguese music that's played on a 12-string guitar and generally is filled with despair, heartbreak and unfulfilled longing. Yet somehow they're not depressing to listen to, and Saura whips it up in his style of showcasing great dancing. Every song is like an music video, but that doesn't seem to matter, either. The music is just beautiful. Takes me back to two wonderful trips to Portugal.

Loved his movie "Tango."

Home from a lovely dinner at Ted Montana on 51st between Sixth and Seventh.  I had trout and asparagus, Kevin had ribs and mashed potatoes, and DJ had a bison burger, and we shared a side of brussels sprouts. we;re working on a possible April reading of "Christmas Up the Holler," and we went through the script and discussed things. Here's the new website:

I hated the stage version of "Thoroughly Modern Millie." The film's too png but it's so much more stylish, thanks to Joe Leyton, than the Broadway mess.  Great arrangements by Andre Previn and fantasti costumes, to boot!

Great website. Loved reading the tribute to your father. Very moving.

David Lutken performs on the Woody Guthrie: American Song recording, which I listen to quite a bit.

Just discovered the whole movie "Fados" is available on youtube, though the print seems somewhat slightly out of focus. Stillt he sound should be good:
