Spent all day yesterday with son #2 in the hospital for bilateral hydrocele surgery (not the most serious procedure, but don't look it up if you're squeamish). Am very tired.

And I hope #2 has a speedy recovery

Not a bad attempt. Technically grammatically acceptable, but "תודה רבה" is more commonly employed.

Thanks for the good wishes!

The Princess Cruises ship, Pacific Princess, otherwise known to many as The Love Boat, is currently being dismantled at a shipyard in Turkey. It will not be making another run.      :-\

Ah, the Winter Carnival. I have many fond memories of the festivities. Hope it's still as much fun as it used to be.

It is still pretty great, DR Ben!      :)

And, for something completely different:

The Italian flag, made out of national foods.

Got onto the fifth page, so tonight I'll finish that one and do one or two more.  I'll leave for the sitzprobe in about thirty minutes or so.

No. I use gate2home.com. My Hebrew typing's pretty lousy, but I manage.

I want to wipe off those ice sculptures from here. I wonder why they left the snow. How annoying.

The Italian flag is called the "Tricolore".

An Italian restaurant I used to go to in San Francisco in the mid-8os had a "Tricolore" on its menu.  The plate would feature three pastas: Pesto, Alfredo and Pomodoro.  They would be presented in the same manner as above...green, white and red.

When I returned to Italy in 1987-92, I found that this particular treat had not been heard of in all the restaurants I visited (although I imagine I gave them "food for thought", so it might be on Italian menus now).

Hello, all,

First,
to DR Mike!!

I'm still in the wilds of Maine for two and a half more weeks. Yesterday, the unthinkable. Singing that lovely, but difficult music at 10am for kids who didn't want to be there. Ah, well. The other 3 school shows were cancelled. I'm sure there were one or two kids who liked it. But at that hour for us. Bad new bears. Oy.

Happy Friday. Four more shows this weekend...

I myself will be having a wisdom tooth pulled early this afternoon. One of eight major dental appointments for me necessary between now and May.       :P

DR GINNY - Carrolton, GA, is where Miss Susan Hayward spent the last years of her life....she is buried near her home there.

And here we are!  Our drive out was smooth and we're now all settled into our hotel.  Dinner later with my cousin and his fiancé.

sitzprobe (German) is a term used in opera and musical theatre to describe a seated rehearsal—the literal translation of Sitzprobe—where the singers sing with the orchestra, focusing attention on integrating the two groups. It is often the first rehearsal where the orchestra and singers rehearse together. The equivalent Italian term is prova all'italiana. - wikipedia

In Italy, as I believe is true of Germany, the use of deodorant during a sitzprobe is optional.
